What I would tell this SAINTS team before this game.
All the prep work has been done. The mental aspects of the game have been stored away.
Soon it will be time to execute and focus. We expect to succeed in this area as we have all year. In fact haven't both teams? So the next level is will. Will and Effort. This is where we must win and cannot expect less. For this New Orleans Saints team this is not just a game. This 2009 Saints team carries more than any other team is Superbowl history. Perhaps what the experts picking the Colts may forget. If the Saints play with the WILL..the Will of the people and everything that they carry on their backs and never forget that for sixty minutes no one will touch this team. Players must take with them into the game.... A region of fans that have rose to the ocassion time after time whenever there was a glimmer of hope. Suffered thru 43 years of dissapointments.... Got up off the canvas year after year. The physical life and death that comes with Katrina. A cruel fate so devasting that football shouldn't matter.... .....but it does matter ..it still matters to people.. So as players all you can guarentee is The Will ..the Will and effort. The will that allows the smaller guy to move the Big guy out of the way. The Will and effort that your opponent didn't allow for,,couldn't of possibly pracitced for. That is all this fan can ask for. (We have done it once when we opened the Dome vs. Atl.) |

You all did a great job getting to the Super Bowl, you'll learn from the experience, and maybe next year you can finish the job, providing Manning and the Colts aren't there again! Now let's go party on Bourbon street!!!! NFC Champs "aint" bad!!

Re: What I would tell this SAINTS team before this game.
I would use the immortal words of Coach Lawrence Allen, BVJHS, October, 1968, on the eve of the Gulfport city JH championship game as BVJH was set to meet West JHS...
"Boys...I'm just gonna say one thing." (As we anxiously held our breaths to see what words of wisdom would come next...) "I ain't gonna say nuthin'" |
