How to Beat Peyton Manning
Most of Manning's important games all went like this: the opposing defense came up with a creative way to take him off his game in the first half and he came back in the 2nd half with the solution, and racked up big points for the win. This suggests that the way to beat him is for the opposing defense to have two game plans. as different as possible from one another, one for each half, in effect to treat the two halves as two separate games. This allows the defense to disorient him and throw him off his game, not just in the 1st half but in both halves. Instead of the usual pattern Manning will play 2 first halves. lose both, and therefore lose the game to the Saints!

Re: How to Beat Peyton Manning
I think we go with the Ravens gameplan on defense. Disguise coverages as much as possible. Have players constantly moving around, the entire game. This keeps Manning guessing constantly. The difference between the Saints and the Ravens? An offense that can keep up with the scoring. I stole this from Ed Reed.....

Re: How to Beat Peyton Manning
How to beat Peyton Manning? Keep the ball away from him. Limit the number of chances he gets to figure out the defense. Long drives and frequent TD's on offense are the way for the Saints to win this game. The D will need to come up with some stops and hopefully a couple turnovers, but in this game the best defense is...a good offense.
That said, I do like the idea of having two different defensive game plans, one for each half, although that's probably easier said than done. |

Not a bad idea...have a plan for him but don't implement it until the 2nd half. Try to play vanilla in the first half, then explode on him in the 2nd. Why not?

Mix and Match. Blitzes, blind side, strong side. Keep him busy in the pocket. He relerases very quick. Change coverages.
Pick'em. And take them back for 6 |

From a Colts fan and Indy native.
Pressure Peyton without blitzes. If the Saints can pressure Peyton with their front 4, and score TD's on offense. The Saints Offense can't settle for 3 when they get in the red-zone. If the Saints do that... they win. Good luck Saints Fans... but not too much please. Jabba |
