Reggie Bush, on winning both a Super Bowl and a BCS national championship at Sun Life Stadium: "It feels like home."
General Manager Mickey Loomis, on the Saints' accomplishment: "We thought we had a pretty good team the last two years, but this offseason, we thought we improved ourselves on defense and we did some things in the running game. It all came together, and you just have to credit our coaching staff and our players for doing an awesome job all year long." Safety Roman Harper: "We said it at the beginning, two weeks ago and at the beginning of the year. We were tired of being the stepchild. This year we were going to win in spite of the defense, not to spite the defense. We were going to put it on us and at the end of the day, whether we win or lose, they are going to put all the blame on the defense. ... So we went out there and took it tonight. There's no better feeling than being a world champ." Cornerback Tracy Porter, on his interception for a touchdown: "It was a great film study. We knew that on third-and-short they stack, and they like the outside release for the slant. It was a great film study by me, and great jump and a great play." He realized he had the touchdown "when I saw my blockers in front of me and only Peyton and the offensive linemen left. I cut back and ran it in." Kicker Garrett Hartley: "It's amazing. It's really remarkable. Everything that we've done, we've been playing for this moment. We took advantage of it and we came out victorious." Tight end Jeremy Shockey: "Ever since you start playing football, you're dreaming about playing in this game. I dreamed and prayed all day and night about being in this situation I'm in right now and that's what happened." Safety Darren Sharper: "This is the most special group of guys I have ever been around. We worked for it. We knew that if we did, we would be here today." Guard Jahri Evans: "Our mind-set was to be the most physical team out there today. We didn't run for that many yards, but we ran effectively. We got the yards when we needed to and that was able to keep us going, so Drew could pick us up through the air." Coach Sean Payton, on being down 10-0 in the first quarter and his gutsy calls to win the game: "We talked about it at halftime, and it's really a credit to every one of these players here. There's not enough room on this stage for all of them, but they carried out this play and I'm just proud. I'm proud of this team." Thanks Q.
This is the best example of a team with "Character" that I have ever seen. They caught lightning in a bottle and carried themselves with grace and class and made us proud to call them our team. We can't count on them all being here again next year but Bless You Boys and thank you so very much for a season that exceeded what I thought I always wanted. WHO DAT???? |
