EXAMPLE (Modern-era): QBs/PKs/Punters = #0 - 19 RBs/DBs = #20 - 49 WRs (prior to 1996)/TEs (prior to 1979) = #80 - 89; Currently, WRs #10 - 19, 80 - 89/TEs #40 - 49, 80 - 89 (First WR to wear a teen-number was Keyshawn Johnson #19 Jets, Todd Christiansen, Raiders, probably wore a 40-number jersey (#46) first. OL = #50 - 79 DL = #50 - 79, 90 - 99 (#00 I believe is still available, yet unused) LBs = #50 - 59, 90 - 99 (Last LB to wear a 70-number jersey was Karl Mecklenberg #77 Denver Broncos) |
