Or put in a CD. (I know I am a dinosaur)

I'm more loyal to our players than some of you. I'm not a what have you done for me lately kind of guy.

He is going into his ninth season? He is at the end of his career.
Some of us recall what you've done, Charles Grant. Thanks.

Whoa, whoa, WHOA! Hold the phone there, chief! Seriously? Did you just question the fanhood of everyone who has a personal opinion of Charles Grant? Just because people think it is time to move on from him doesn't make you more "loyal" as you put it. You aren't at liberty to explain anything to anyone on here with that condescending tone. What are the terms you like to throw around here so frequently? D-bag? Tool-bag? Questioning anyone's fanhood on here is just as much of a d-bag or tool-bag move. Just because you like Grant doesn't mean we have to bow down to you because you think he's great. Newsflash! He isn't. Not anymore.

Charles Grant was good his first three years, had a couple of years with 60+ tackles after that, and has fell off the map ever since. He has done absolutely nothing the last three years. He hasn't even averaged 5 sacks a season over the last five years. He's barely averaged over 40 tackles a season the last three. He's 32 years old, out-of-shape, and hasn't even come close to playing well since he signed that fat contract. The Saints need to cut their losses and let him go as fast he stole money from the team when he signed on the dotted line. The proof is in the pudding.

To answer your question of how long I've been a fan, it's been 24 years. It doesn't matter how long someone has been a fan. It isn't a "what have you done for me lately" attitude if the player hasn't done anything worthwhile in past five years. There is no need for you to be condescending to people in this forum just because they don't agree with you.

I thank Charles but it is time to move on. Maybe we could get a 5th round pick for him.

He would be worth a 5th but who would be willing to give it? Huge cap hit if they trade for him. Why not just wait till we relase him and sign him for half the price. McCray is just as good and cost us 3mil + a year less.

This^

Great teams would have let him go long ago.

You don't remain a Dynasty by being loyal to players who no longer pull their weight.

In fact, if I had to comment on the absurd "TRUE FAN" nonsense, I'd say a TRUE Saints fan is the one who can put his personal feelings about a player to the side for the good of the team moving forward.

My loyalty is to that Black and Gold Jersey, not the guy who wore it last year, or the year before.

Does Grant at his salary make our SAINTS a better team in 2010? Or would replacing Grant's enormous salary with a better player make the SAINTS a better team in 2010.

A TRUE SAINTS fan wants what's best for the team moving forward. Grant has been paid a King's ransom for his services, so I'm perfectly OK with the next great thing to come along. Thanks for all you've done Chuck, enjoy your life as a bazillionaire ex-Saint.

After watching the playoffs I'd argue that McCray is the better defensive end. The guy wrecked Warner and you know that Favre "remembers" him.
