Saints to talk cash with Brees and Bush

Brees is a team guy. I don't think he'll break the bank. I can see him signing for a good deal less money so that we can lock up some other key players. An incentive driven contract could work with a reasonable base salary.

Resign Drew and give him the largest signing bonus in history (50 mil) since it is an uncapped year. Resign him to a long term deal next year. Unrealistic I know but just a thought.

Im thinking:

Bush will be gone and somewhat missed if he don't restructure (AND SAINTS WILL DEMAND A RESTRUCTURE!) otherwise he test the market and leaves knowing full well Drew Brees made him even marginally look good enough for the money he's getting paid..
Grant will be gone and so what?
Brees will be paid somewhere around 16-18 mil a year in a 5-6 contract and we'll be happy to pay it.
Sharper will remain a Saint for the rest of his career.
Pierre Thomas will get a MAD PAY INCREASE!
Lance Moore will be handsomely rewarded.

Loomis will be more determined in the FA than the Drafts (so lets not get excited at all during the drafts unless some crazy loonyness happens and Loomis convince some team to take Charles grant off our hands for a high draft pick.. lol ..

Before we get rid of Grant, do you think we should try him at DT? He's already on the roster and we need another DT.

No.. he's too costly, old, useless, injury prone, unhappy, and problematic.

He'd get destroyed as a full time DT. He doesn't have the leverage skills even mediocre DT's have. He's fine for occasional duty as a 3-tech penetrator on obvious passing downs, but as a DT he get owned after 10 snaps.

My opinion of course.
