Re: Saints shopping some RFA's

I think alot of fans think Bushrod was sub-standard because we needed to provide some doubles and chip blocks to help him out. Frankly I think he is about average in the list of starting LT around the league and would have been an upgrade for some teams or at least equal to who they had. Top 5 LT's don't come around all that often. I don't even think of Brown as one although he is a few steps better than Bushrod on their best days.

Bushrod is serviceable and performed adequately. He didn't have a terrible year, he had a couple of off games but overall he overachieved expectations of many. No need to get down on the guy.

I think we keep him and Streif (as he can back up numerous positions and is our jumbo package blocker). Brown can be moved. I'd be happy if we saw a low 2nd rounder for him. Consider what we gave up to get Vilma and that approximates his value as a FA. We're not getting a 1st for him.

lesser players than brown have gone for a 1st round pick

i would hate to see the saints let him go because i truely feel they are smart enough to keep him

but if we really wanted to deal him i couldnt see the saints struggling to find a trade partner for a future 1st rounder if the tackle they wanted is gone by the time they pick
