Mock draft 1.0, By Pat Kirwan

32. New Orleans Saints
Jerry Hughes, LB, TCU
The Saints could go in a number of different directions here, but Hughes brings pass rush and the athletic ability to play linebacker.

Mock draft 1.0: After the combine, Bradford goes first to Rams

this is the media making a bigger deal about the draft than it actually is

bradford wont go first and neither will clausen because they arent the best players in the draft......they arent even top 5 talent in this draft because the draft is so deep and the only reason they are mocked so high is because those teams in the top 10 need good players....including QBs

I heard on NFLN, that DT, is probably the deepest position in this year's draft, so I could certainly see us taking a LB, with the first pick. IMO, I think DT has to be addressed in the second round. After those two are out of the way, then go BPA, for the rest of the draft.

Either DT or LB would be fine with me although I'm not very familiar with this years draft class yet. However, if I keep logging into the B&G I will learn everything there is to know about our prospects. Thanks to all the people who share what they've learned.

I actually like Washinton more than Hughes. TCU had a GREAT defense this year.

Daryl Washington
Height:6'2"
Weight:230 lbs.
Arm Length:34 1/2 in.
Hand Size:9 1/2 in.
College:TCU
Conference:Mountain West

Washington had his most impressive season as a collegiate football player in his first year as a starter for TCU. Washington lead the Horned frogs with 109 tackles and was clearly the most disruptive defender on the No. 1 defense in 2009. Washington has good height and athleticism for the position but lacks bulk when projecting him at the next level. He has gained 20 pounds over the past year and has a frame to carry additional weight moving forward in the NFL. He is an instinctive player that leverages the ball well and understands angles and run fits in the TCU defensive scheme. Washington is a solid open field tackler and the added bulk has helped his physical presence as a linebacker. He has good range in pursuit and has good lateral quickness and agility to be an effective coverage defender. Washington is a good football player that has been an excellent special teams contributor. He has improved his draft status dramatically by having an outstanding senior season.

Jerry Hughes
Height:6'2"
Weight:255 lbs.
Arm Length:33 in.
Hand Size:9 3/4 in.
College:TCU
Conference:Mountain West

Hughes is a defensive end that has been the most disruptive defender for the Horned Frogs over the past two years. He is a tweener (size and athleticism) at the next level and may fit as an undersized end in a 4-3 scheme or an inexperienced outside backer in an odd front. Hughes is best attacking the line of scrimmage rushing the passer or penetrating to disrupt the run. He uses his hands well to control blockers on the edge. He also shows an expansive pass rush package. Hughes has dropped in zone coverage at times but is most comfortable with his hand on the ground. He is a solid tackler in the open field utilizing great balance and body positioning. Regardless of where Hughes aligns at the next level he should contribute as a rookie due to his instincts, toughness, athleticism and energy.

Although if Fujita is back Hughes would fit more of need at DE.

I like Hughes and picked him months ago...so i could live with this pick..could be a Freeny type

He's have to throw on 20 lbs of muscle and not lose any speed to be a Freeney type. Not impossible I guess, but he is not a naturally big guy.

I saw one the other day (I don't remember where, but it was a legit site) that had us taking Tebow in the second. I didn't think it was entirely unrealistic. If anybody can think of a way to use him, it's Payton.
