Six months in prison for selling knock-off Super Bowl shirts

A man who was convicted of printing Super Bowl shirts and passing them off as NFL authentics was sentenced to six months in federal prison.

Willie Bernard Smith, also known as Willie "Chill Will" Smith, sold pirate NFL shirts outside the Super Bowl in Tampa last year. He pleaded guilty in November to trafficking in counterfeit merchandise.

Tampa police reportedly saw Smith selling Super Bowl shirts in a parking lot near Raymond James Stadium on Super Bowl Sunday in 2009. The shirts had the NFL logo but weren't real NFL shirts -- and Smith had already been involved in counterfeiting and ordered to cease and desist using the NFL logo.

In addition to six months in prison, Smith was ordered to forfeit shirts and screening equipment and stay out of the merchandising business.

This guy gets 6 months in prison for selling some knock off T shirts and then they give Donte Stallworth 24 days in jail for killing a man while he was driving drunk. Wow what a message the legal system is sending to our youth, its okay to drive wasted and kill someone, but don't sell those fake NFL T shirts because god knows your going to kill someone by doing so or harm them physically. Give me a f*****g break.

Again with the Stallworth thing?

The guy crossed a highway where he wasn't supposed to cross without looking. He's responsible for his own death.

Stallworth walking after a month versus sending a guy to jail for six months for "counterfeit" T-Shirts pretty much sums up how truly misguided the state of our union has been for the last twenty-five years.

On the contrary. It shows that one is accountable for one's mistakes, as in making the mistake of crossing a highway where one is not supposed to and not looking at oncoming traffic.

I'm asking this bc I don't know... Is there proof that the guy wasn't looking where he was going or that maybe he was running to avoid Stallworth?

I really don't know those details.

When you get run over by a car in the middle lane of a highway while crossing said highway where you are not supposed to cross it, you were not looking at upcoming traffic.

I am against DUI as much as anyone, but the man's death was a direct result of him doing something stupid.

Lot of things I'd like to say, but we'd get off topic. The guy selling Tee's got a harsh sentence, IMO. Probation, a fine, sure. 6 months is a long time to be locked in a box for what many have done less time for more. My opinion.
