Having a FS on the field that lead the league in interceptions makes the QB think twice about some passes. PS. he would have had the league lead by +1 (total of 10)if not for the roughing the passer called in NY against Vilma which negated his interception. 3 of his Ints were TDs and he had 376 yards. Pay the man. His dynamic is worth it. |

Re: Fujita Signs with Browns * MERGE*
I trust Loomis on this one. You just have to. His track record is just too good to ignore. If you think Sharper is worth $6MM a year, you are wrong because Loomis and Benson have already said he is not. I think he is worth about $3MM for two years. At that price he almost doubles his pay from last year, and we should guarantee both years. Anything more than that, and they are going to let him walk. None of us may like it, but we have Usama Young, Malcolm Jenkins, and Chip Vaughn for a reason.

Sharper is a lock or almost lock for the HOF. But he is 34 and if we gave him a 3 year deal he would be 37. Yeah, I would say plug Malcolm back there and let him develop into what we all know he is going to be long term anyway. The starting FS for your New Orleans Saints. The sooner he gets to it the better off we will be in the long run.

browns still suck, the Saints will dominate them this year.

Re: Fujita Signs with Browns * MERGE*
Easy enough here guys think about it before you go running off at the mouth. You have every right to be steamed they let Fujita go, he gave everything he had for us and I would rather have an over achiever than an underachiever. He is on the wrong side of 30, was injured a bunch this year. this tends to happen more and more as you get older just like running backs. I wish he had stayed but the money he received was too high.
So do I wish we had kept him, um yeah, but let's face it for a LB starting to get injured more and more and on the wrong side of 30 I thought there was a chance to lose him. As far as Sharper is concerned.... He was a great FS for us last year. Will he be as good this year? Don't know he is 35 and I think the front office was right in saying go ahead and test the market. No way another team signs him to a big long term contract. If they do they can have him, because he will not play up to it for more than year or two. If you get too many dead contracts on your team it can cripple them for the future and building a dynasty. If I have learned anything so far as a Saints fan it's that I think we can trust that Loomis and Co have a plan. |

Well Holy Freaking Hell! WhoDatQB you are my new favorite poster. Thanks for that intelligent well thought out post. I guess there is still hope around here.
Some new rumor info on Sharper. God, I love being right. Check out the salary parameters I already laid out this morning. Spot on. Sharper might not move far 11:16 AM ET Darren Sharper | Saints | Interested: Texans?, Chiefs?, Dolphins?, Eagles?, Saints?, Bears? Top Email Aside from the Saints, other teams that may make a bid on Darren Sharper include the Bears, Eagles, Dolphins, Vikings and Chiefs. Rumblings have yielded the number of around $3 million per season as a figure that might be good enough to land him. It's an increase from the $1.7 million that the Saints paid for him in 2009, but much less than the over $6 million they would've had to pay to franchise him. But there's a reason why Chicago might not be the most productive landing spot, according to NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert. While heaping some praise on Sharper, Matt Williamson of Scouts, Inc. proposes that the Texans would make sense. Here's NFL Insider Adam Schefter on why the Saints' gamble -- not placing the franchise tag on Sharper -- has paid off thus far: Adam Schefter This was the right move "They didn't think Sharper was worth the $6.45 million franchise tag and bet that nobody would be willing to step out of the box on the opening weekend of free agency and sign him. And so far, they've been right. Now some team always can come along and sign Sharper and steal him away from New Orleans. But the fact that it didn't happen on the first weekend of free agency is an encouraging sign for the Saints -- and validation that they made the right decision." |

Re: Fujita Signs with Browns * MERGE*
Once again it is about the money. I understand these playere have to make a living & support their families. I guess Millions and the opportunity to win another Super Bowl do not matter. Leaving a city & its' people who love you don't matter either. Going from the best to one of the worst teams is more appealing then staying with a contender.

in cleveland he will be one of their best players.....in new orleans he was a role player in cleveland he will be a captain and a leader.....in new orleans he was a leader, but would never be a captain in cleveland he can help turn that team around, about 4 years ago he embarked on a similar journey from dallas to a city near the bayou its not personal that he left new orleans...look at what he did for the city even up to the day before he left.....his heart is in new orleans but nobody is crazy enough to pass up $8 million as soon as you dot the "i" and cross the "t" its stupid and foolish to assume that he would pass that up because we just won the super bowl......players leave super bowl teams all the time because the market opens up for them......fujita was taking advantage of a smart business decision for his family. |
Re: Fujita Signs with Browns * MERGE*
Must agree with WhoDatQB who said it best esp., bottom line about Loomis coaching staff of Payton, and Benson and Benson(Rita LeBlanc).
