Meachem fans Saints fever

BILOXI — Saints fans got a chance to meet one of their heroes at Edgewater Mall on Sunday.

New Orleans Saints receiver Robert Meachem spent the afternoon signing headgear, posters, T-shirts and footballs.

Most of the fans brought a camera and Meachem posed patiently for every shot. His friend, Houston Texan Jacoby Jones, came along.

“He is like a brother to me, and thought I would bring him along on my trip to Biloxi,” Meachem said. “You know I love signing autographs and talking to the fans. They sometimes feel like they cannot talk to us because we are famous now but then they meet us and find out we are really just regular guys.

“That makes me feel good because the fans are a big part of what we do and how we play.”

Matt Helms, the owner of Gulf Coast Cards & Sports Memorabilia, said he would continue to bring the Saints to the Coast to meet the fans.
All-time leading rusher and fan favorite Deuce McAllister for the Saints will be signing autographs at the shop March 20.
