Safety Darren Sharper has not paid any visits to any teams as of yet and there is nothing new on the situation with him and the Saints. Word is that the team wants him back and he wants to stay so it is rumored that he'll be back in black and gold.
Monday night though, Sharper showed up at the Saints' DVD premiere and he looked a tad different. NOLA.com is reporting that Sharper was on crutches after having arthroscopic knee surgery to correct a few problems. He did not discuss his free agent status and had nothing to say on how contract talks are going, if at all. As you can see by the video below, Sharper avoided the questions at all costs. Not really surprising considering he was at the Prytania Theatre to enjoy the DVD showcasing the team's awesome Super Bowl season. |

I hope D.Sharper remain a Saint but I did notice when both of our corners were out D.Sharper had to play more coverage. Does anyone think this could be why no teams (as of yet) bought him in for a visit. Wonder if this is what Childress/Vikes coach was referring to

Re: Saints' news and notes on Darren Sharper and free agent visits
I don't care how old he is...yet. I am certain that he has not done anything to keep NFL QB's from looking across the line and thinking, "Damn, there's that Sharper dude. Got to keep the ball away from him...he's got a reputation for pick-six's."
I like the idea of the opposing QB being freaked-out a little bit by his presence. With Greer and Porter establishing themselves as well, we are quickly becoming a much-feared defense. Until he proves he can't do it...he will continue to get that respect. He didn't do anything this year to change that from an opposing QB's perspective. RB's might not have as much fear any more, but he still has the ability to pick-it and head to the house. |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

I would love to have him back also BUT not at 6 million.
3 million per year on a two to 3 year contract - plus incentives & guaranteed 4 million. (hell I could be agent!!) |

Almost any free safety can get a few interceptions if a QB overthrows his receiver deep down the middle. It's breaking up passes, and getting interceptions other areas on the field (for instance closer to the sidelines) that separated Sharper from other FSs out there. |

I hope that Sharper sees the Saints as possibly his last football stop.

I don't think he's gonna go anywhere. There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest around the league. I think Chicago may have spent their wad on Peppers. Oh, well, hope he resigns. The front office knows what's up, so we'll see.

Darren Sharper is a huge component in our secondary. So one way or the other, I'm sure we'll have him back next season. If anyone makes him an offer, we'll match it.
