Loomis may stand pat at LB
New Orleans Saints looking to fill voids at linebacker, defensive end | - NOLA.com
There might be a general feeling of enough talent in the wings to replace Fujita. |
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
Fujita did miss 6 games so these guys did get on the field, but there was a reason fujita was starting. Our front 7 is not good enough to work in another marginal player as a starter
|
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
Yer we need upgrades in our front 7, I think stanley arnoux needs serious consideration at outside backer, he has wat we need, speed to get to the outside and I think he wud fit well in williams system
|
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
bigger needs at DT and DE
LBs are the second issue with our run defense....not the primary issue |
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
i kinda like our WLB collection and would be willing to go another year and find out what we got. But SLB is another issue all together. A true SLB would be nice in the first three rounds of the draft. Using WLB at SLB just did not cut it. DE is understandable.

Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
So what is everyone thinking, DE as in a starter, or for depth? We have paid McCray starter money for two years now. It is time for him to step up or follow Grant out the door.
I would love to see us go BPA on D in the first 3 rounds, and then get some O-line depth after that. We need another skill player on offense like Sharper needs another press release, so hopefully SP won't be tempted. |

i'm thinking a DE as a starter, but work mccray in on a rotation. I am sure gregg genious could find a way to get the best pass rushers on the field all at once!!!! if we can get our front 7 top 15 wise, our secondary is already top 15, our d would be unstoppable!!! |
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
I don't know - we may need some help at LB also
|
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
I'm ok with Arnoux or Casillas winning a starting job and not drafting an LB. I'm ok as long as Troy Evans and Jo-Lonn Dunbar aren't being passed off as starters.
|
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
I'm sticking with DT, as our most glaring need on D-line. I got so tired of long runs up the middle last year, that I almost puked a couple of times. DE would be next in line, and LB, would probably be third. Although, this is supposed to be a very deep draft for DT's this year, so I don't know. Probably why I don't do this for a living...

Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
I say if managment got us a super bowl there must be a method to the madness, Arnoux and Cassillias should get a shot at holding down olb spots, Arnoux on film looks like Cato June to me, good coverage skills and range solid tackler hope his injury heals and he rehabed(s) well.

Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
I am up in the air on what they should do. We need a dt, de, lb, Safety and a qb. The problem is I dont know the way they should go. Sharper can take care of the Safety Position but the rest needs help bad. If we lose Hargrove weare in big trouble.
|
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
Yes, perhaps draft a rookie LB and let him, Arnoux and Casillas battle for the job. Need to get younger, not older, at the LB position.
|
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
I want the Saints brass to inquire about Umenyoira. The guy fell out of favor in NY and I think that he'd do well in Grants old spot.
|
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
Osi would cost to much, Hes a beast but I'm not to fond of throwing 1st rd picks around, if he could be had for say a 2 and next years 2 then Make it happen Loomis, if not let the scouting dept earn their money

Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
SLB - Shanle, maybe Arnoux or Dunbar
MLB - Vilma, Mitchell, Dunbar WLB - Casillas, Arnoux, Dunbar I think we seriously need to add another speedy WLB, and probably another solid SLB. Other than Shanle, no one we have has proven to be anything more than promising. Add some more high quality competition to the mix and we'll be fine. |
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
What about Antonio Pierce? Has he already signed with another team? I know he was involved with that whole Plaxico thing, but he wasn't charged with anything.

in fact.......somewhere i remember casillas was clocked in at just under 4.5 in the 40 we have some speed and we have some power.....we just need a LB who can combine both of them |
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
Shanle has proven, that he's too damn slow. SPEED, SPEED, SPEED, is what we need. How many times did we get burned by TE's this past year. Think about it. Shanle's a quality backup, but has to be upgraded.
|
Re: Loomis may stand pat at LB
We need upgrades now. Casillas and Arnoux are nice players, but little top level experience. They need another year in the system and some meaningful reps before letting them loose. Bring in Bullock, pay him money, get him a ring.

first off we probably have one of the toughest schedules against TEs winslow, gonzalez, witten, clark, shiancoe not to mention all the second tier TEs we had to play in keller, boss, celek, and davis you wanna know why we got burned a lot by TEs? because we played the best TEs in the league |
