Lions Looking at Hargrove
3rd rounder is a pretty good deal for this guy IMO.
The Lions will host restricted free agent DL Anthony Hargrove on Monday night and into Tuesday. Hargrove, a productive pass-rushing tackle in New Orleans' up-tempo scheme last year, would cost the Lions a third-round pick to acquire via an offer sheet. The Lions have heavily targeted defensive line upgrades in free agency. |
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
I hope he stays in New Orleans. I like his tenacity and he was a valuable piece on the defensive line when injuries started piling up.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
I don't think we have seen all of Hargroves potential, we can't loose this guy.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
Please match any offer Saints. Third rounder isn't nearly enough compensation for his high motor.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
I agree a third rounder is not enough. At the end of the season he was without a doubt our best Kickoff Coverage guy. He plays with a non stop motor and is extremely inspirational to our team.

Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
I say keep him, but it would be what, the 66th pick in return? Not bad
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
Well he was selected 3rd Round 91st overall by the Rams in 2004. But he is also a proven commodity for us. It's a bit of a toss up in my mind depending on how much the Lions throw at him $$ wise.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
At 6-3, 272 lbs, you'd have to find a me a player in the third round that is as good or better than he is.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
I like what he brings to the team. He'll get some looks but I think we'd match any reasonable offer.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
yeah ... it would be a tough call .... I'd still rather keep him.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
we will keep him. He has proven his worth.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
I think we should try to keep him...but I am on the fence.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
We need to sign him and we will...
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
Solid player, but that second pick in the third round is excellent value...
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
you know if the lions sign him away we get pick 66? maybe ok. the draft looks good through the fourth. but i really like him. love to see him play in position and not nt
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
Keep him. A 3rd are you kidding me. He was great last year
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
i with everyone else keep him.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
If they felt he could be the starter opposite Smith at DE, then I would keep him. But, looking back at how he was used last year as a situational player and backup, and with his off-field concerns and this being a deep draft, I would take the draft pick. There are a couple of third round NT's, and LB's that would have a legit shot of starting for the Saints.

Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
Get the team younger? Ask the Bucs, how that worked out for them this past season. There is something to be said for old dogs, and this guy isn't even that old. Keep him.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
He's 27 years old, that's called a players prime. I highly recommend you guys go back and watch the end of the season and playoffs and just watch what Hargrove did on Kickoff Coverage Teams. It's almost otherwordly.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
I hope Hargrove stays.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
Keep him unless we can get a pretty decent pick from Lions, i'd rather a nice Draft pick, but i dunno, i kinda wanna keep Hargrove, he's saved our asses a few times.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
Any news?
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
You keep players like this if you possibly can.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
Did we keep him? I wanna keep him! I'm tired of other teams coming in and snatching up our champions! This is disgusting. I might just throw a fit!

Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
The FO has me feeling very squeemish this off season.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
I can deal w/ Bell, even Fujita (although it hurts to admit it), but I agree in that Hargrove's motor, special teams play, season-long improvement, etc. make him someone we want to keep.
Not to mention the fact that this guy has gone through some serious Sh*&!! I mean, the things he has overcome will only make him stronger. We need this guy on our team... |
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
Keep him. He's proved his worth. You know what you'll get from him.
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
KEEP HIM !
|
Re: Lions Looking at Hargrove
