New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb will visit troops overseas on USO Tour
By Mike Triplett, The Times-Picayune March 30, 2010, 9:46AM New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb will be the latest Saint to embark on a USO trip to visit the troops overseas this spring. He will join actors James Gandolfini, Rose McGowan and Tony Sirico in a seven-day tour led by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen. During the tour, the group will travel to numerous military bases to lift the spirits of America's troops. Currently, Saints quarterback Drew Brees and tight end Billy Miller are on a similar trip in Turkey, Djibouti and the Persian Gulf. This will be the first USO Trip for Stinchcomb, who was named the Saints' Man of the Year in 2008. "So many of my fellow teammates and friends have gone out on entertainment tours and told me about how great their experience was visiting and uplifting troops," Stinchomb said in a press release. "Now I can finally relate to them and tell others how important it is to work with the USO and support our troops. War or no war, our soldiers are remarkable and need our support." |
