AP
Jamal Lewis is a former NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
While no deal was immediately struck, both sides agree to stay in touch.

Lewis and the Saints appear to be a good fit given his physical style and their commitment to running the football.

Lewis is a former NFL Offensive Player of the Year who last played for the Cleveland Browns.

He rushed for 2,066 yards with the Baltimore Ravens in 2003

Would certainly be the goal line back. The Saints are definitely waiting to see if they can do better in the draft. The Saints will sign Alex Brown DE, draft Sergio Kindle, OLB/DE, Texas with pick #32 and draft Anthony Dixon, RB, Mississippi State with pick #64.

It just seemed logical. Brown is a definite upgrade over Grant and probably has a couple of years left, Kindle can play DE or OLB and Dixon is a freaking beast and would be the goal line back for the next 10 years if we could land him.

If you want Kindle, you'd better be prepared to trade up...to like 15.

I thought Jamal Lewis retiring?

Yeah Kindle has shot up on most draft boards...I wouldnt mind getting Lewis at the right price...he can still pound the rock ...and would be a great goaline back behind our line... Jerry Hughes would be a good pick..if Kindle and Weatherspoon are gone..but i think DT is more of a need ..

Areed. Kindle is shooting p draft boards. I still see Witherspoon in the 1st.

As for Lewis, I wish he would retire. He only plays when he wants too. We do not need a cancer like him on the team. He is no Ironhead.....

I don't think Lewis has much gas left in the tank. I would pass on him.
