This mock has us picking a wide reciever...lol

32. New Orleans Saints: Demaryius Thomas, WR, Georgia Tech
The Saints are risk-takers, and this would be one considering Thomas' foot injury. But to add him at the end of the first round minimizes the risk and gives them a potential steal.

I know...then what trade one of ours?

Not a bad pick actually. Much better than Fat Man Cody. :p:p

WRs usually take a few years to develop in the NFL. What better team than the Saints this year to sit and learn?

I have to say i would rather Cody...lol

I'm not buying it. Saints will go after defense unless there is absolutely no one on the board at #32.

we might as well take a punter.

Re: This mock has us picking a wide reciever...lol

Don't think it's going to happen. We need defense first.

Re: This mock has us picking a wide reciever...lol

I just don't see it happening. Doesn't make sense. It caused me to raise an eyebrow when they drafted Deuce and Meach in the first round when everyone thought we were going D, but those worked out. But look at our receiving corps and how young they are. Colston, Henderson, Meachum, Moore, Shockey..............I mean seriously. I think we are set at WR. We're going defense.

That worked out last year.Of course it wasn't the first round.

I would not be surprised. If we resign Sharper and get Alex Brown they will take the BPA.

Agreed. But even if they don't sign one of those two it may still be BPA. You pretty much have to at #32 because the talent available to cherry pick positional players is just not there.

Thomas is rising in the draft boards of the mock dignitaries and for good reason. A fast version of Dwayne Bowe. What's not to love?

I have us taking a back-up long snapper.

The only way I see us doing that is we trade Moore for picks. I don't like that idea because I can't think of one of our WR's that I would want to see go. Colston is money. Henderson is Louisiana through and through and deserves to stay. Meachum finally got it last year and is the HR threat every team needs, and Moore just makes plays when he's healthy. There is going to be an odd man out if we take this guy first round. I say if we sign Brown, we go with LB at that pick. BPA or not, I just don't see WR.

Is Russell Erxleben, Jr. in this draft?

Is this idea any better?
I see a bunch of guys I've never heard of trying to come up with
something different, perhaps even absurd, to try and get a response from fans.

I would say BPA front 7.
Of course, I would be repeating myself.

Our defense was not good last year, and we are already down 2 starters. I would trade back before I took a WR.

Things that make you go UM...............Thats not right. Only if he the best player on the board.

No way, no how, I will kick the cat, if we take "sweet tea". That boy talks like he's about two steps from figure skating, or becoming a hair dresser. Let the Niners have him. He will fit right in, out here in the San Francisco. JUST SAY NO TO TEBOW.

Re: This mock has us picking a wide reciever...lol

I Mock mock drafts that have us takin WR's in the 1st. 07 draft saints select Robert Meachem, because joe horn wasnt gettin any younger, at that point they had Devery, Colston, Terrance Copper, Jamal Jones and Lance wasnt gettin any shine, What did u expect them to do? Draft Chris Houston??? That said a WR in the first is Mockable, Bash him if u'd like but Fat Cody has to be the pick, trade back if you must just get him in the 2nd round wont have to pay him to much, then Jerry Hughes Watch film and tell me he cant rush the edge Id say keep the options open for position, Let him start out at OLB if it dont work then let him throw his hand in the ground. Depending on whos available I'd go BPA based on need but DL needs a long look

its going to be defense, defense , defense, unless theres a best player in the draft senerio. that being said someone would have to fall into our lap like a dez bryant for example.

A WR......really? Somehow I just don't see it. We had good enough receivers last year to move the ball. DEFENSE---DEFENSE---DEFENSE.

Oh dear, I think this means we're trading Colston. I knew it was coming,
I knew something didn't seem right. Oh god, not Colston.

Guys, guys, guys.... Remember, when it comes to our defense, it's all about the system. You don't need players with outstanding talent, just guys who are serviceable. I mean, it's all about the defensive coordinator, not the players themselves... Seriously... Let's just draft WHOEVER, and know that no matter who we have playing on defense, that they will do well, because of the system..... :)

assuming they're "lucky enough" to be considered for Greg Williams system? .....since we've be able to come this far with just "good" players, no need for the "great" ones.
