Two totally different type of players.

They are however a perfect PAIR for the same team.

I'll bet there are 25 teams who would take Reggie AND pay him just as much if not more for his services.

Absolutely! The people who criticize Reggie for not being an "every down back" just don't understand the way football is played now. That era ended a decade ago. The way our offense is geared, even Walter Payton wouldn't be out there on every play. Sean matches the personnel with the situation. He does it with the backs and he does it with the receivers.

I don't think anyone pays that much for a scat back and an over-rated punt returner. Well, Oakland maybe, and Washington perhaps.

Call him what you like, but he's an important part of the success of this offense.

Sign for and collect are two different numbers.

Depending on the details of each incentive there's no way he would've collected 8 and 12 and 13 million. That's why the contract was structured that way.

There are plenty of teams who will sign him to 35mill for 4 years though.

Reggie's contract was restructured in 2008 before the start of the season. In his original contract, he had about 20 million of it that was not likely to be earned because of incentives. The restructured deal gave pretty much assured him that he would see all of that money as long as he was on the roster. Last season, he received a 4.5 million dollar roster bonus and he will receive 490,000 this year. He will see all of the 8 million this year that is allotted to him within the contract. Next year, it goes up to 11.8 million instead of the 3.575 million he would have received from the original contract. His "not likely to be earned" bonuses have decreased from 20 million to 2.3 million over the next two years.

I like Reggie a lot. I like what he brings in this offensive system. I see him going through this year without restructuring his contract, but next year could be a different story if he doesn't have a Pro Bowl-type season and doesn't restructure.

Have you noticed how few of our players make the pro-bowl? The way Sean spreads the ball around, it's not likely anyone other than Drew will make it. It's pointless to worry about anything beyond this year anyway. There might not even be football as we know it in 2011.

I agree. But is Reggie really over paid? Of course, him and all the rest of 'em. I don't think any ballplayer, no matter what sport, is worth a million dollars. Call me old timer, old fogie or what ever you choose. But that's the way I see it.

I guess that depends on what the worth of that silver football is to the city of New Orleans. Our margin of error was razor thin in the NFC championship and then in the Super Bowl. Did Reggie give us that one little edge to bring the trophy home or not? I think Sean and Mickey think so and so do I.

... like watching bad tennis :lightsabres:

Robert Mitchum, the late great actor was once asked what he thought of escalating salaries for actors, and if he thought it was fair to pay 100's of thousands of dlls (this was some time ago :) ) to actors just to "act", to what Mitchum replied "they don't pay us to act. Acting, we'd do for free; we love acting.. it is the waiting in the trailer they pay us for".

Of course, nowadays actors get paid not only for the filming of the movie and waiting in the trailer, but all the merchandising that goes with the release of a movie: the video game, the action figures, the clothing line, etc...

Reggie Bush is not being paid just to be a running back in the NFL. Owners like to win, sure, but owners like returns on their investments even more. I am sure Benson is expecting the 8 mil he's pouring into Reggie to return well over 8 mil to his pocket through other channels, and not just expecting his money to return stats.

I do too, and I also think he's over-paid.

Ok true Bush is paid what a #2 should get. Bush produces like what a second or third rounder does & therefore that is what he "should" be worth & that is what he "should" get paid.

PT deserves a HEEEEELLLLL of a lot more than Bush!!
