NOOOOOOO! If they want to give us D. Ware for Brown, OK. For a second...heck no. That's silly. Brown is way too good for that little compensation. We went through this last year

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???

I think the main idea here is, that Brown doesn't seem to WANT to be here. Sitting out of mini camps, and waiting for a trade or a deal. He seems to be ticked off, that the rule change made him an RFA, instead of a UFA. He seems like all he wants is a payday, and that's fine, but not at the expense of the team itself. I say trade him, get the draft pick, or picks, and get a new rookie OT, to learn under Strief, and Bushrod.

I think you don't low ball a 2 time pro bowl LT, especially when you have many teams out there that need one. We have him, they want him. Why not ask a high price? At the very least, we will be able to work out a better deal for him. If you go out and ask for minimum, then you will either get that or less. The fact is, we don't HAVE to get rid of him at all. So if someone wants him, they better be ready to pay what we want for him. IMO.

I know the rules however i will say **** the cowboys. Trade Bushrod keep Brown, how many pro bowl LT's do u have the luxury of adding to an almost complete pro bowl offensive line, getting him back make this unit elite! If Brown is to be moved not to the cowboys, I just hate them they can burn make a move like the patriots do invest in the best possible pick, trade him to a team like detroit or kansas city who needs a LT and would probably give up a deal in our favor take their 2nd this year and their 1st next add to high quality 1st rounders and be 1 step ahead in keeping the ship afloat we're relatively young at all positions so we'll be competitive for a while i dont for see a fire sale or any turmoil happening

mad at him for getting hurt?

i understand being upset about him sitting out of camp but you cant fault a player for getting hurt

stuff like that happens all the time

and bushrod didnt take his job....just filled in

SaintPauly 04-16-2010 03:42 AM

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???

Yeah, but i think the reason strat is mad, is the same one I am. The way he has acted of late, is that he doesn't want to be here. Thomas doesn't have a deal done, but still plans to be at camp next week. Where as Brown, has made it clear in the media, that he doesn't. If he wants to go, let him go, and get something for him. I would rather have one good player that wants to play here, than five great ones, that want to play somewhere else.

in fact.....we threw the 10th most passes in the league in '09.....bushrod gave up 8 sacks and had significant amounts of help

in '08......we threw the ball 635 times.......brown gave up 3 sacks with very minimal help

brown gave up a sack once every 212 drop backs....

bushrod gave up a sack every 64 drop backs......

see the difference?

Define "significantly" :)

.. on the other hand, the Saints still fielded the #1 offense, setting a franchise record in scoring, and ending 5th? in rushing offense...

2 games in 2009, the Dallas game and the Miami game, really skew the stats since the Saints gave up 9 sacks ( 5 and 4) in those two games. The other 14 games, the Saints gave up only 11 sacks.

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???

I lake Brown as much as anyone and think we would have been a much better team last year with him, but a 2nd and 5th rounder is a pretty good deal. I'm golding out hope for Haynesworth; maybe for our 3rd and 6th.

CheramieIII 04-16-2010 07:40 AM

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???

Lets trade Brown and Sharper for a their second and a younger safety or OLB. We would have to resign Sharper first to a one year contract that the Cowboys would be comfortable with.

Maybe the Saints should sign Flozell Adams to replace Brown. I hear Adams is a free agent.

the-commish 04-16-2010 12:24 PM

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???

The problem with trading Brown for Cowboys draft picks is that Dallas is drafting late in each round. Although getting that late second rounder would give the Saints the flexibility of trading their own, or the Dallas one, for more picks in the third round, and possibly regaining a fifth rounder.

significantly meaning drastically, considerably, substantially

the saints also fielded the #1 offense with brown.....but now you are talking about the team......not the position.....you cant switch it up like that

if you wanna talk about the team, thats fine....but lets talk about the position eh?

the rushing offense was 5th.....PT had 20 more carries than in '08......lynell hamilton had 35 more carries than in '08......mike bell had 160 more carries than in '08

the difference in our rushin offense was commitment.....NOT BUSHROD

bushrod gave up 2 sacks to demarcus ware in the dallas game.....which means he gave up 6 more the rest of the season......more than a third of the total sacks we gave up the rest of the season

The New Orleans Saints have placed two-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jammal Brown on the injured reserve list.

Brown had been out for the first three games after having hip and sports hernia surgery in the preseason. There had been hope he might be able to return around the middle of the season, but the Saints apparently determined that wasn't likely to happen.

Let me ask you a serious question, though...

So, in 2009, Bushrod gave more sacks than Brown did in 2008.. I'll take your word for it. Now, do you know how many holding penalties did Brown commit in 2008 vs how many holding penalties did Bushrod commit this past year? I don't know, and I'm curious to know, and I can't find any stats on that.

yes....and i feel bad not knowing the link

someone posted it a very long time ago...at the beginning of the season i believe

brown committed 7 penalties in '08

usually i combine that with the 2.5 or 3 sacks he is credited with to make it an even 10 statistically bad plays

however....because i dont know the link i cant find out how many penalties bushrod had.....if anyone finds it......PLEASE POST IT

I get the majority of my info here, Ya'll keep me informed most of the time.

I think Brown get's way too many false starts and holding calls, I have seen him kill several good drives with a penalty. think he panics at the wrong moment. Do I still want him? Oh yeah.

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???

Brown's worth a low 1st rounder, even with the injury, plus a sweetener. He's had a year to get healthy and he's no less intelligent. Pro Bowl LT's are extraordinarily rare.

Can anyone tell me why $6mill is an insulting salary to make? And does he really think he's not being shown love because of the tag, when every team did exactly the same thing to key players?

I may never understand the modern "pro" athlete.

Has anyone else noticed that, lately, once the "love" is shown, the "lovee" stops producing?

vert true once the jack is in the bank seems like the hydrulics start to leak. i'll tell everyone brown is worth a lot higher pick than 27 in the second. bull on that cows

A late second is the best the Saints can hope for. An early third is more likely. Too many injury questions and contract demands. He will be a Saint in 2010.
