Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
Just saw on NFL Network, that the Saints could be studying a trade with the Cowboys for LT Jammal Brown. Jason Laconfora says that it could happen on draft day, as the Cowboys are looking to trade their second round pick, for the right guy. What do you guys think? This will still be a high second round pick. I think they should have to throw in a player as well, unless they want to give up a 1st, or possibly the 2nd, and a 5th or 6th.

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
Do it...it would be nice to get a first...but a 2nd and 3rd would work...Dallas has been known to give away number ones ...lol

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
This is a cost-cutting move if it happens. Maybe this is why Brown decided not to attend workouts, because he may have been informed that he was on the block. The Saints are probably seeing that they won a Super Bowl without him and are content with either Bushrod or Strief at LT. With a 6+ mil tender placed on him, they are seeing less dollar signs devoted to that position and can spread that money out over people that are probably about to get extensions like Jahri Evans and Pierre Thomas. They could also use some of that money to go toward re-signing Sharper.
P.S. I would still try to get more than just the 27th pick in the 2nd round, though. Maybe a 2nd and a 4th. |
Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
It would free up some moolah...and im might be in the minority here.. but i think Bushrod and Strief and a draft pick would do ok at LT...Brown is one knee injury away from missing the season again...

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
Guys, Brown is coming off a season-long injury in which his team played better when he wasn't there. Doesn't exactly scream first-round draft pick to me.
I'm with D, think maybe a low 2nd with a low-rounder could be a possibility. I'd take that in a heartbeat. The national media ragged on Bushrod a lot last year because he had a couple of bad games, but point is, the Saints gave up very few sacks and Bushrod actually did pretty well. He's not an elite tackle, but definitely a good one. |
Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
I dont see anymore than a second rd pick as well..but Loomy can work some magic..lol..

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
Out of curiosity, if it's the cowboys 2nd rounder, and a player, what player would you guys consider?

Ok, Ware isn't going anywhere, no pun intended. I was thinking a reasonable trade idea. Unless they want to trade straight out? Then heck yeah.

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
i'm absolutely ok without him.
i got so tired of hearing "false start, #70, 5 yard penalty...repeat (#) down" or the same with holding...he just seemed like a penalty machine to me. rock on bushrod! |

but the LT position was not better......in fact.....if was significantly worse and if we were to drop brown off for any pick, LT would immediately leap frog into the first or 2nd biggest need for this team Quote:
in '08......we threw the ball 635 times.......brown gave up 3 sacks with very minimal help brown gave up a sack once every 212 drop backs.... bushrod gave up a sack every 64 drop backs...... see the difference? |

I know you're down on Bushrod but how uch do you think could be accredited to it being his first season as a starter and do you see rome for improvement? From watching him this season I feel he has the physical tools to do it. I lik ehim in runblocking but he needs to improve his footwork and "sit down" more when passblocking, IMHO. What I mean is trading Brown if Bushrod doesn't get better would be unwise but with the coaches we have i expect him to improve. |

hes been in the league for 3 years and has done a lot of nothing....he has disappointed sean payton and its very publicized that payton was down on bushrod IMO bushrods biggest weakness is his drop step he drops back way too far when he pass blocks and stands up too straight when makin up for the ground he covered the DEs are allowed too much room for movement before he initiates contact and like you said, he needs to sit a little more and not play so freaking high im down on him because of his pass blocking.....although ive seen him blow a few assignments while run blocking the difference with run blocking is that he can initiate contact immediately and can use his size and power to overwhelm defenders the problem with him is when he drop steps he cant recover and that is usually only in pass blocking situations |
Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
Thats a good analysis, I think a lot of that can be fixed with coaching. Then again, LTs are in high demand because there's just not a whole lot of 300lbs ballerinas out there.

i agree...i think with brown in at lt, we are just better...and he rarely gets help..together with nicks thats one strong side of the line...and the other side was pro-bowlers |

Dennis Landolt.

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
You simply cannot compare Brown and Bushrod. As Canton said, Bushrod got a TON of help. With Brown our pass protection scheme changes, opening up the mad genius's playbook even more.
I think Brown is more valuable to us than other teams, meaning we won't get his worth in a trade. (and no way is anyone giving up the 1st & 3rd tender) I think we need more than the 60th pick for him- maybe the pick and a swap in the 1st and 3rd rounds, with us picking at #27 |

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
Jason La Canfora, of the NFL Network, reports New Orleans Saints restricted free-agent OT Jammal Brown is a candidate to be a part of a trade during the 2010 NFL Draft.
Dallas might be in the mix but it looks like he is on the way out one way or another. I am glad to see it. We won without him and and do it again. Should get a rd 2 pick out of this. |

Re: Jammal Brown to the Cowboys???
I say now that the Skins have paid the 21 mil to Albert I say a even up trade. We will lose Brown next year anyway and Albert will give us a 2-3 year window on drafting a top dt. That allows lb o be the first pick.

I can confirm that the Cowboys are interested in Jammal Brown. If you trust Jason La Canfora, you will have no problem trusting me.
