Report: Saints LT Jammal Brown is on the trading block.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that Saints LT Jammal Brown is on the trading block.

The catch is that Brown hasn't signed his restricted free agent tender, and must do so in order to be moved. He might also demand a multi-year extension from any team looking to acquire him. If Brown was dealt, the Saints could move forward with Jermon Bushrod and Zach Strief competing on Drew Brees' blind side. Free agent Flozell Adams might be another option.

I know the thinking, but here's the problem...

Saints 4-3 scheme needs a two-gap defensive tackle to maximize the abilities of Sedric Ellis (which I think was a mistake to move up and get - though I applaud the effort - I feel it was to save face with the failure of the Glenn Dorsey coup)...

Haynesworth is a three technique (one gap) defensive tackle in a really big body...

And then there's the attitude...

And then add the age...

I don't like Hayneworth at this stage, with those circumstances, for the Saints; I'd rather get a big body in R2-R4 to help Ellis in the middle...

I dont think the saints will pony up that much cash for one player especially with Brees, Thomas and Evans looking for extensions plus trying to bring Sharper to the table

Haynesworth to the Saints will not happen. I'm not sure why people can't see all the reasons why. Money, age, baggage...they all apply.

2010, 11, 12 all look good to me. (My understanding is the 21 million bonus has been paid).

I have no idea what the 2012 "discretionary signing bonus" is.

I'm not sure why people still think that money is the problem, when it isn't.
