this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I'm not going to talk about McCarthy, Venturi, Injuries, Brooks, or just generally how bad this team is. That's too easy. Here's an interesting take though... Assuming the Saints don't come back from 35 points down in the fourth quarter ...

Assuming the Saints don't come back from 35 points down in the fourth quarter (HA HA HA), the Colts are going to 4-0. That means the three teams that the Saints have lost to are 10-1 - I believe all are in first place in their division. The Titans have the best record in football over the last three years. Seattle and Indy may be two of the top five teams in football right now. So, my question is - are the Saints REALLY this bad? Or are we getting beat up on by really good teams? Regardless of the answer, it's not going to get any better next week, as we travel to 3-0 (2-0) in the division, Carolina Panthers. Does anyone think that we can beat the Bears? |

WhoDat...you make me laugh. Talk about finding the silver lining, you\'ve done it. I can\'t wait to see how BillyCarpenter1 puts a positive spin on Brooks\' performance. The only thing missing from this game was there was no one screaming at a coach on the sideline ala Rich Gannon and Terrell Owens.
Oh well...maybe next week. |

That thought flashed through my mind too. Now we know that the Saints are not a playoff contender, but we don\'t know if they are middle of the pack or competing for the #1 draft pick. They will win some games this year against other mediocre teams. I actually like our chances against Carolina - call me crazy, but only after the game. The season is basically over if you are looking for the Saints going to the playoffs, but there\'s still the chance of them playing some good ball.
One more note: Sellout count stops right here! There\'s no way the game against Chicago will sell out the Dome. [Edited on 29/9/2003 by nocloning] |

For all of you guys wondering how Billy and Saintfan will respond, I\'ll give it to you right now: dropped passes. They\'ll moan about protection and dropped passes.
The first pass Brooks threw that was picked SHOULD have been caught. Of course, it was thrown a yard and a half behind Stallworth on a six yard slant route... but in the NFL a receiver reaches back and gets his hands on the ball he needs to catch it. The second pass Brooks threw COULD have been caught. I mean 7 foot 9 Conwell was able to get one hand on the ball... Brooks didn\'t really overthrow him, right? What about the next pass Brooks threw? Horn, wide open down the seam on a skinny post. Overthrown by four yards. Yes, Conwell dropped TWO (I don\'t count the first one it was overthrown) passes that should have been caught. Stallworth dropped a touchdown... that was underthrown by 3 or 4 yards, but in the NFL you make those catches. Oh yeah, and if you think Brooks can throw over the top with touch, THAT PASS should prove to you he cannot. A wide open Stallworth a mere 20 yards down the field and you make him stop and come back and jump to have a shot at it? That Aaron Brooks is a STAR I tell you. |

Unlike you I can admit when I\'m wrong. I WAS WRONG!! While I\'m a huge Saints fan, it doesn\'t affect my life. I, like many others, get tired of all you guys bashing this team day in and day out. All of you can have a free run at saying this team sucks everyday!! It should do wonders for the membership of this board. Maybe the name can be changed to B&Gsucks.net..... |

Hey, news flash, Billy...this team does suck everyday. Ya know, facts are funny things. They never lie. Why don\'t you just admit Brooks isn\'t what you\'d like him to be. You complain that everybody wants to hang the Saints\' demise on him yet you can\'t logically explain how his fumbles, interceptions. bad reads and general lack of football savvy doesn\'t warrent criticism. Look, Brooks is an idiot. Read his statements. You never hear anything from him regarding football smarts. He never explains what kind of defense the opponent had, what kind of blitz package they had, what kind of offense they ran, nothing. He just speaks in simplistic terms...\"we gotta come together...we need to work together...we\'re better than this\", etc. And he never takes responsibility of his own. It always \"we\" as if he never fumbled or threw an interception. He lacks leadership qualities. And while he has talent it doesn\'t come close to \"one of the top 5 quarterbacks in the NFL\" as he proclaimed when he sat out training camp a few years ago. Billy, I read your stuff here a lot and you\'re starting to sound ridiculous. Now you\'ve dug a hole for yourself to the point where one day Brooks will run the football to the opposing teams\' endzone and you\'ll say they switched goals when no one was looking! Jeez...wake up. |

Aaron played poorly yesterday. No problem admitting that. Now you are really catching me at a bad time. So, forgive me for what I\'m about to say. You little -- You and everyone else can blame Aaron Brooks if you want to, but he is not the problem, unless you want to overlook the fact that our offensive line sucks. Did you notice how much more time Peyton had to throw the ball than Brooks. Probably not Also, feel free to say the Saints suck all you want to. While they certainly have sucked this year, I don\'t feel the need to constantly say they suck. You think Brooks is an idiot Qb and I think . Got something else you would like to say? I do. No name calling! [Edited on 29/9/2003 by JOESAM2002] |
