Who you got in the 2nd?
My pick is a safe one...
Lamarr Houston Pass rush: Extremely agile for a 300-pounder and works relentlessly to reach the quarterback. Gets under the shoulder of his man if lined up in the gap or slanting. Beats most cut blocks with quickness and strong hands and is able to recover from initial stalemate to get after the passer. Good backfield awareness. Gets his hands up to deflect passes, though his height and length leave something to be desired. Dangerous on twists inside. Short arms cause him to work harder to get off blocks against top-level guards. Must improve pass-rush moves. Run defense: Excellent pursuit down the line. Upper body and hands are strong enough for him to pull down ballcarriers while engaged with blockers. Regularly lines up at the five-technique, standing his ground against larger linemen using a strong punch and leverage. Stays square to the line, able to move laterally while engaged. Lacks the bulk play inside on run downs at the next level. Explosion: Has a good first step, but not elite first-step quickness. Lines up with two hands down so often he must prove to scouts he can get off quickly from the three-technique; his ability to penetrate on slants shows he's capable. Gets his hands into a blocker's jersey quickly and pushes them back using leverage and brute strength. Strength: Massive upper body. Should wow teams pumping bench-press reps at the Combine. Plays strong and has a good punch with violent hands to disengage. Uses low center of gravity to keep leverage against the run. Holds up larger lineman and double teams but will be engulfed by larger NFL linemen, unable to disengage when head-up. Tackling: Very strong tackler, comes with aggression and does not let go once in contact with the ballcarrier. Agile enough to get through trash inside. Good flexibility and strength to bring down backs coming through the hole. Good burst to the quarterback once through the line. Does not break down in space and lacks the change-of-direction skills to capture elusiveness quarterbacks and running backs, but will chase them down with hustle and good straight-line speed. Intangibles: Very competitive. Has an above-average motor and is willing to play hurt. Generally quiet, but took over vocal defensive line leadership role as a senior. Suspended for one game in 2008 after DWI arrest. Parents are Lamarr Houston, Texas, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com |

LOL..ok...those damn Douchebags!
|
Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
As long as we don't hear "Houston we have a problem".;)
|
Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
I like Houston at 64. I dont see Washington or Price falling to 64 so either Houston or Bowman (although Bowman is not a Payton character guy).
|
Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
I'm with falconhater. give up a 4 and/or 5 or something for moving past the Viqueens and nabbing Washington. Cards are hot on him per all morning reports.
|
Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
Personally I am hoping we can swing Sean Lee.
|
Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
I love Washingtons athleticism and range sideline to sideline, but not sure how he would fit taking over Fujita's role on the strong side. Maybe switch Shanle to the Sam and pull Washington into the Will. I would imagine not only the Cards looking to replace Dansby but the Panthers could also be looking OLB.

Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
I am with Kiper on this one...
Nate Allen, S, South Florida HOWEVER, I don't think he will be around at 64! |

You remind me of; A Georgia fan was sitting at the GA/GT game next to a GT fan...when UGA (the bulldog mascot) came to the middle of the field and began to lick his personal area. The GA fan said; "I wish I could do that", to which the GT fan said; "better not, that dog will bite ya"! |

Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
We really need to address that OLB spot so I say we trade up for Washington. He is very aggressive and fast, so he'll be great for Gregg. If we stand pat at 64, go with one of the Penn State guys, preferably Bowman. I know he has some attitude issues but the guy is a tackling machine and would really help us with the run. Penn State is called "Linebacker U" for a reason.

Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
Bowman is a beast...i agree man
|
Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
Ok the 2nd is a need round..if were going to trade up..this is the round...i can see us doing it...:bng:

Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
Check out below... Had us taking Kareem Jackson - knew we needed to bolster the CB spot (but didn't have robinson that high)
Still like the DT/DE pick next!! |

Washington Kindle Bowman Price In that order. If McCoy is there we need to bite the bullet and take him. Our future trained buy the best qb in the league over the next 3-4 years. |

Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
I actually like cody alot as I am a life long Albama fan.. I just have one question he blocked to field goals against Tennessee they only got one ball back is the other still in his arm pit...LOL
And I agree with Canton he would just make our linebackers better keeping them clean |
Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
judging by the 1st round. I say we reach for a player at a position we dont have need for. John skelton or jacoby ford!
|
Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
I've been sitting back reading posts and predictions without making one of my own. I'm not real up on college players so I have to research before making a comment, however with that said, and with my limited knowledge, for our second pick:
I think we take Washington if available. I doubt he will be though. I think Dunlap would be a good pick, however it seems he has a few issues (DWI) off the field, but if Williams can get it straightened out he would be a good fit and a hell of a football player. We need somone who can stop the run and get to the quarterback, and Dunlap can do it. Cody maybe. He will probably be limited and won't be an every down player. However, he is big enough to require double teaming and free up a defensive player for the pass rush. Price if he's available. I think we'll pass on Bowman. All JMO. |
Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
i really dont care, as long as we stay on the "D" side.
|
Re: Who you got in the 2nd?
looks like were going to trade our 64th for haynesworth, then possibly trade j.brown for another 2nd rounder? this finally getting our olb. linebacker u may emit this pick, st. thomas has big ears. lol
