Re: TE Jimmy Graham

Third string waterboy in the 4th round, I'm telling you. This pick makes sense only in that he's roughly Shockey-sized, possible replacement in a couple years?

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

I predict our next pick is a WR.

Are we picking our draft selections drunk??

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

I gotta say, that I truly believed that they had a plan, but no DT, or DE through the first three rounds? No trade ups? I'm starting to think that they are all still drinking Jerry's bottle of wine.....

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

LOL. You have to give Payton his due. From double reverses, to onside kicks, to moving up to take a punter, he does things his own way. The heck what anyone else including us fans think. This draft is just another example.

look for a stud long snapper out of OSU or USC

Anybody got stats on this kid?

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

Shockey ain't gonna last forever. Thomas is versatile and Miller is solid, but neither will ever be elite. Maybe this kid could be, who knows.

Long snapper.

Looks like an excellent red zone threat... just looking at his measureables.

He joined the football team last August, and scored a touchdown on his first reception against Georgia Tech. He had a rough game the next week against Virginia Tech, with two important drops, but bounced back to finish the season strong. His 17 catches for 213 yards included five touchdowns, making him the sort of red-zone threat NFL teams covet at the tight end position.

First of all I threw my hands up over our picks as well. But, here is a prediction. We get ripped in the media for this draft as we get ripped so often. Yet within two seasons we end up praising two of our first three picks.

You know they're all doing Jeager bombs and laughing their asses off. WTF WTF WTF . WE NEED A DT AND OLB AND DE MAYBE NOT MORE F&*KIN OFFENSE.

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

Isn't that why we got Thomas though? I mean, with the exception of Poydra's CB call, we were all completely off the mark on these picks... Don't you guys agree?

Good call. I was thinking the same thing. 6' 6" and a 39-inch vertical and runs a 4.5 in the 40. Brees has loved his big targets in his career (i.e. Gates, Colston). Had only 17 catches last year, but five of them went for scores. He is just one more weapon to add to the arsenal.

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

Jimmy Graham, Miami
Height: 6-6. Weight: 262.
Projected 40 Time: 4.68.
Combine 40 Time: 4.56.
Benchx225: 15. Vertical: 38. Arm: 35.
Projected Round (2010): 2-3.
3/28/10: Looked great in the positional drills at his Pro Day. He could be taken in Round 2.

2/28/10: Jimmy Graham didn't disappoint in the 40 (4.56) and definitely looked like a natural tight end in the drills. Some team will take a chance on him in Rounds 3-4.

1/21/10: A forward on the Miami basketball team, Jimmy Graham is a project but has a ton of upside and athleticism. He caught 17 passes for 213 yards and five touchdowns in his only year playing football.

This is from Walter Football.

I guess I picked a bad night to stop sniffing glue!

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

I swear this guy would have been great in the fifth.

The pick had to have been Bowman had the niners not snapped him up a couple picks before us.

I was laughing at the Vikings this morning about the CB thing. Now they have Toby Gerhart and we have a bunch of projects.

I don't care if he won the heisman trophy. We don't need another tight end.

Not in the third round, that much I agree with.

SmashMouth 04-23-2010 09:28 PM

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

Well .. we had a ton of injuries at TE also ... remember when Heath went down last year?... a tad disappointing in that he's considered a prospect ... but shows enough potential to be the next Tony Gonzales. Still , we need more DL and LB help.... unless the coaches love our own project lb's and dt's.

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

His measurables are off the charts for a TE. Another huge upside pick. Saints went with homerun swings in first and third rounds. Ballsy.

Why do we not need another tight end? Shockey always has injury concerns. Billy Miller didn't play a snap last year. David Thomas was very solid when Shockey was out, but after that, what is left? Dinkins? Dan Campbell? Pass on both of those. I like Billy Miller a lot, but he isn't under contract and may not be now after tearing his Achilles' tendon and will be 33 years old tomorrow. I like the idea of youth being added to the position.

You have no idea what you got in Jimmy Graham. If he had one more year at miami he would've been the best TE coming out next year. Trust me, it's a good pick.

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

Guys and girls, i've figured out what the Saints are doing here, LOL. If we use our entire draft on people who won't even make the active roster, we won't have to pay them and we will save money! Maybe we can pay Sharper now! LMAO @ our picks. I bet we pick some no name DT in the last round and put him on IR for the season. Does anyone else see what we do every year? Most of our draft picks go on IR for their rookie season for the past three years. Ex. Meachum, Arrington, Arnoux, Vaughn, Pressley. It's kinda weird, don't you think!

i like graham alot but i would like to have gotten a LB or DT

poydras 04-23-2010 09:38 PM

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

I don't think I would be more disappointed had we traded the whole draft and moved up to pick a long snapper. We look like we're building for the future when, for us, the furture is now. We have a good team. We just won the Super Bowl. We have one position to fill; just one. We need to replace Scott Fujita. So far in three picks, we haven't even given it any thought. Yes. I have faith that they know what they're doing ... but still.

PAIN- 04-23-2010 09:40 PM

Re: TE Jimmy Graham

I think we have the answer to Fujita with Dunbar or Ardneoux. WE NEED A DAMN DT!

It's a good pick. Not only is there great value here, but it is a position of need. TE is crucial to our offense.

This guy is big, fast, atheletic and plays with a mean streak.

I don't like the pick, I love it.
