Draft rethink...

So is this what its like to be a world champion...

yes we have needs on our team but, are we going to take the New England route. Are we looking into the future at all turns. Might this be how a Dynasty is built? We are so accustomed to needing players on the field NOW that we don't know how to react to drafting for the future. Maybe as our team changes into a perennial NFL Power we as fans need to change our approach as well.

Im not sayin'... Im just sayin'

Re: Draft rethink...

Im all for that ..but we needed to address DT...thats all...then the bench picks..

Woods from LSU or Anthony Dixon RB from Mississippi state

Re: Draft rethink...

I think when you draft last you can't afford to pass on good value picks.

You certainly can't "reach" for positions of need -- that's a recipie for disaster.

Not if they come in and play good...thats a frikin myth..when you have a complete team and just need say one or two picks to be set across the board ..in our case DT and Lb..i think you should reach deep in that pocket..

Re: Draft rethink...

Whats so wrong about taking a DT?..dont you think we need one.. did you watch us get gashed in the run game?...we could have got one in the first and the went BPA...

And your entitled to that gay avatar...you picked it

CheramieIII 04-24-2010 10:32 AM

Re: Draft rethink...

I like the pick

Al Woods, LSU
Height: 6-4. Weight: 307.
Projected 40 Time: 5.12.
Combine 40 Time: 5.12.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.98.
Benchx225: 23. Vertical: 37.
Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.
1/24/10: Rebounded with a half-decent senior campaign (33 tackles, 5.5 TFL).

2/14/09: Limited by a leg injury, Al Woods had just 11 tackles on the year.

5/9/08: Al Woods finally got his first start in October and he'll have more opportunities with Glenn Dorsey headed to Kansas City. He'll have to put his size and strength together and become a force on LSU's defensive line.

What?

When you draft last, you won the SB.
When you won the SB, you have a darned good team.
When you won the SB and lost only 2-3 players, you still have a darned good team.

On the contrary: when you have a SB winning team, that is the perfect time to "reach".

LOL, no good teams continue to build for the future. That is what the draft is all about. If you want to get drawn into the hype that the draft is all about drafting heroes for the following season then believe whatever you want.

Yeah, that's really what I said -- any selection of a DT is a reach.

Wouldnt you say trading one of our VALUE picks to take Al Woods was reaching?...i think so

... again.. what? Who said anything about drafting heroes?
So now the Saints are not a good team because they are not picking the players you or the network talking heads say are the ones the Saints should be picking?

If you want to be a condescending know-it-all, at least work on it. Don't reach.

Okay, so now it is my turn ----- what? Seriously, it's begining to sound like we are having two differnt conversations here. I have not been critical of a single pick. Nor have I whined because we passed on a player.

Your comment makes no sense.

Well, since you are jumping on board maybe you could explain how his comment is relevant to anything that I have said.

I am not the one who is whining about the picks -- that's you.

That's fine, based on your posts since this draft started I really do not value your opinion. You may resume your whining now.

Just because i dont agree with our picks ..doesnt mean im whining and i dont need somebody to tell me how to be a fan...You have your distorted lemming way of thinking and i have mine...Im ok with the CB .puzzled at first but ok..Now we have a DT..so i must have been somewhat right..if you dont like my post dont reply...that simple chief..and you are no smarter than the next joe blow to join this board..so keep your insults to yourself..all your doing is digging a deeper hole for yourself...

There you go insulting the lady Saints fan with your joe blow comment! nothing personal! lolololol

u are on a roll my friend. One day I will take you up on your beer offer...Dixie of course!

btw; like you, I was scratching my head with the Saints picks...but have come to understand. The perspective around the league is the Saints do not like to pay top $$$$$ to OL. They select and rotate (i.e. look for J. Brown to be elsewhere this year).

We will see how this league perspective works with J. Evans now, and Nicks in the not too distant future.

BI

there may be something to that theory... Willie Roaf comes to mind. When he was let go or traded (I forget which - I know he ended up in K.C.) after many years with the Saints, he was looking for more money, correct?

You are spot on (not to mention Horn was having his way with Roaf's wife), and add Faine to the mix. There were several other guards as well that left when they could not get paid the $$$$$ they thought they should receive. Someone else may remember the names (I believe one went to the Falclowns).

You started a thread title, "Do we really want to repeat?" Sounds like whining to me.

And if you are not trying to make this personal why keep up with the insults? Throwing in a jab while demanding that yours be the last word sounds a little childish.

Let's just talk football or not talk at all.
