Henderson will be released by the Jags
As per Adam Schefter through twitter, henderson will be released by the Jags. So this bares the question, do we want him? Was this a Greg Williams guy?
Also, you guys really need to get on Twitter with this guy. He breaks news before ANYONE. It is scary accurate. |
Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
Far from his glory days where he and Stroud dominated interior lines for years, but he's still just 31 and should have a few years left on him. I'd love to have him next to Ellis for two downs and then rotate out.

Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
Great pick up if we can get him.

Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
was this the guy who was almost suspended before our game with the them 2 years ago?
when their backup QB lit us up and MJD ran one back, but we still won? If so, he is a monster... |
Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
Don't see a lot of Jags games. Isn't he on the over-30 downhill slide now?

He's huge: 6-7 335. Can definitely fill the hole and tie up blockers |
Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
i would love him to fill in for a year or two. he would be the perfect player to have woods learn from.

Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
Also filed to ESPN, the pats will release Adelius Thomas. Does he fill a need for the Saints?
|
Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
I really think the competition at DT is fine, but
if Greg Williams wants him, I ok with it. |
Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
Bring Henderson in he's only 31.
|
Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
Adelius Thomas does fill a need at OLB. DT Henderson would be a Good pick up for a Two yr deal. Sure coach is waiting to see as well who else will get released by other teams as well

Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
Henderson has played under Gregg Williams before. He seems to like players who have been in his system. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he comes in for a visit, at least.

Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
Huge upgrade.

Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
Guess our Dline just might be looking up!?!

Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
This could be a good signing for us if we can get him at a moderate cost. Thanks Jacksonville!

Word is that he's visiting the Chiefs soon. Probably be signed before he gets off the plane.

Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
The Giants were also sniffing around him, and the Browns are on a shopping spree. Im all for bringing this run stuffer in. He isnt some fat slob taking up space until winded.

Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
Like I said in the Thomas thread, no harm in bringing him in. Henderson is a beast and could be a nice mentor.
|
Re: Henderson will be released by the Jags
bring him in, dude is stout against the run.... he dont do much for pass rush though, but he is better then everyone else at dt except for ellis

Jaguars cut two-time Pro Bowl DT Henderson
Jaguars cut two-time Pro Bowl DT Henderson
Updated Apr 27, 2010 7:48 PM ET JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) The Jacksonville Jaguars released two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle John Henderson on Monday, opening up a starting spot for first-round draft pick Tyson Alualu. The team also released defensive tackle Montavious Stanley and linebackers Brian Iwuw and Tank Daniels and withdrew its qualifying offer to linebacker Clint Ingram. The moves continue an overhaul of a defensive front that finished with a franchise-low 14 sacks in 2009. Jacksonville drafted four defensive linemen, traded underachieving end Quentin Groves, released defensive tackle Rob Meier and traded for veteran linebacker Kirk Morrison. The Jaguars tried to dump Henderson during the draft, got no takers and decided to part with the eight-year veteran whose production dipped in recent years. A first-round pick in 2002, the 6-foot-7, 335-pound Henderson averaged 84 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks during his first four seasons. He averaged 56 1/2 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks the last four years. NFL Post-Draft Power Rankings, 1-32 He may not be a starter anymore or maybe he needs a change of teams. But one thing for sure he would add some solid depth to our rotation, of course at the right price. |
