He'd be a massive upgrade to the defense. I liked Fujita from a personality standpoint, but Ingram would be much improved production at the position.

would be nice to get competition in before training camp, I dunno about huge upgrade over fuji , Clint ingram is a sound tackler so hes gonna make the stop but u gotta stop thinkin every dude that comes in is gonna knock socks off, its sickining

Re: Free-agent LB Clint Ingram is considering contract offer from Saints
The only thing Ingram has over Fujita is a few years of youth. Fujita did everything reasonably well and seldom missed an assignment. He was a supreme character guy. I don't know a ton about Ingram as a person, but having seen him play I don't think he's an upgrade, but given the hole we have, he fills a need.

Re: Free-agent LB Clint Ingram is considering contract offer from Saints
Ingrams' got 2" of height and 8lbs. More playing weight on our second yr. Rookie Stanley arnoux. I'm pulling hard for arnoux, but what do I know? LOL although stanleys highlight reel is pretty impressive.

Re: Free-agent LB Clint Ingram is considering contract offer from Saints
Fills a whole is all. He has upside and has been in Williams system for a year.
|
Re: Free-agent LB Clint Ingram is considering contract offer from Saints
Injured for whole year. I think him under the tutorage of gregg, and not having the pressure of getting thrown in the fire could definately benefit him.

Re: Free-agent LB Clint Ingram is considering contract offer from Saints
What does this guy have to consider. He'll play for his old coach, get paid 5th year minimum, get to play for an immediate Superbowl contender and play for the best damn team ever in the history of football, THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS! WHO DAT!

AGREED! He's has one team look at him since his release, (us) and we are the only team to offer him a contract. He has a chance to compete for a starting spot on a SB team. Dude, sign the dotted line. |

Re: LB Clint Ingram - UPDATE: We're taking a look at him.
Ingram will sign and he will be an upgrade over Fujita. If his knee is right.

Re: LB Clint Ingram - UPDATE: We're taking a look at him.
Ingram has been a starting outside linebacker for the Jaguars for virtually all of the past three years he has been with the Jaguars but played in all 16 games for the first time in 2008 as he started 12 of the 16 games he played in. He has good size for the position as well as above average long speed and adequate instincts for the position. He can be inconsistent when it comes to recognizing blocking schemes and shows some indecision when it comes to locating the level of the ball and taking proper angles to get to the play. He tends to try to run around blocks more than stepping up and leveraging his way through the block and will run himself out of some plays. He can use his hands to meet and shed blockers but does not deliver a real heavy blow when taking blockers on. He often comes out in obvious passing situations and will show questionable skills at route recognition and reading the quarterback's eyes to get a jump on the ball from zone coverage. He looks more comfortable when playing balls thrown in front of him than he does when having to turn and play the ball thrown behind him

If his knees are good to go then I'd like to have him here. Our rook can learn from him. Make it a short term contract.

I think Ingram could be a Pro-Bowler in the right system, and I think the Saints defense may be good for him.
|
Re: Free-agent LB Clint Ingram is considering contract offer from Saints
I don't know much about him so I'm not sure that Clint Ingram isn't the answer to our need at LBer, however do we really want to throw last years fourth rounder into the starting lineup? Ingram should at least cause a lot of excitement at training camp with a good battle for the starting spot. There was a lot of competition last year..........I just don't see how this camp could be as exciting, seeing that most positions already have a proven starter from last years SB winning team. Don't get me wrong neither the team nor I are going to be complacent.;)

Re: LB Clint Ingram - UPDATE: Ingram considers contract.
I think we were just trying to replace Fuji and Ingram would be just that.

Re: LB Clint Ingram - UPDATE: Ingram considers contract.
Wow - seven pages about a fringe-starter. Must be the off season. lol

This could be a very good signing. He's very familiar with the defense already and I think he'll start.

Kewl..leave and come back we got a new LB... very good...

Definitely an upgrade over Fujita. |
Re: LB Clint Ingram - UPDATE: Now a Saint.
I'm surprised that no one else was courting him. Once he gets to camp he'll probably do just fine. GW has some knowledge of the player and wouldn't bring him in unless he felt like Ingram still could play.
Now, do we trade to get a DT? |

People are saying Henderson about the NT, but we really have a ton of options now that we have gotten an OLB to replace Fujita. Some are saying Haynesworth, which would be really awesome, though I have doubts that it'll ever happen. So the question is, what are some good NTs that teams would be willing to trade for a LT. Also note, we could also stick with Al Woods, who the coaches and the FO seem to think is going to be a good player. The "him being unproven" aspect of it has to come into discussion though. Whatever the scenario: that being we trade JB for an NT or for picks; I think we have to trade him. |
Re: LB Clint Ingram - UPDATE: Now a Saint.
I’m thinking that, at the very least, it gives us another veteran LB to hold down the fort along with Scott Shanle on either side of Jonathan Vilma while helping to guide the younger guys trying to make the squad at the position and give them further help along the way to maybe making one, two or three of them into real studs by the end of this year or going into next year.
I also think, like Shade does, that the change of scenery from Jacksonville (no fan base) to NOLA (tons of love; just ask Sharper about the level of "love" he has enjoyed in the Big Easy...) will do him a ton of good and he'll play inspired and up to his full potential this year anyway. News was that he was being moved all over the place and the schemes had changed from mainly 4-3 to more 3-4 and he wasn’t as effected partly as a result of those changes and the inconsistencies of his placement down after down on the field. Besides, doesn’t Jack Del Rio have a history of getting into it with his linebackers on a continual basis anyway? And who would be happy about playing in Jacksonville with zero fan support anyway? Seriously! I betcha he’ll really enjoy the love in NOLA and I predict that he flourishes here… |
Re: LB Clint Ingram - UPDATE: Now a Saint.
Ok lets see what you can do.

Re: LB Clint Ingram - UPDATE: Now a Saint.
He was great in college, didn't watch him much in Jax. Welcome aboard.
