Draft Grade formula

Grading System
5.00 to 4.00 -- Franchise Prospect -- A player who can change the course of a game and a consistent performer. Multiple Pro Bowl possibilities and top ten selection.
3.99 to 3.10 -- Quality Prospect -- Someone that consistently gives good performances. Occasional Pro Bowl appearances.
3.09 to 2.75 -- First-Year Contributor -- Prospect that has the ability to make plays from the get-go and start early into his rookie season.
2.74 to 2.45 -- Future Starter -- A good athlete that must learn to be a football player or someone who is an "overachiever". Quality prospect with long term potential
2.44 to 2.35 -- Fence Player -- Prospect on the fence that has the skills and abilities to succeed but needs time and patience to develop those skills to the fullest.
2.34 to 1.99 -- Practice Squad -- Late-round draft pick or priority free agent that must develop his talents on the practice squad
1.98 to 1.50 -- Free Agent -- Player who will make a 60 or 80 man roster.

Grading System - 2010 Draft Tracker - SI.com

Using this chart and SI's grade for our draft picks which are as follows:

Charles Brown-- 2.96
Patrick robinson 2.89
Matt Tennant -- 2.84
James Graham -- 2.80
Al Woods -- 2.79
Sean Canfield -- 2.02
total-------------16.3/6 = 2.71

Divided by number of picks 6 equals a draft grade of 2.71

2.74 to 2.45 -- Future Starter -- A good athlete that must learn to be a football player or someone who is an "overachiever". Quality prospect with long term potential

Based on this formula we drafted for the future which is what a standing champion should have the luxury of doing.

Thoughts?

4 of 5 are First Year Contributors. The QB skews the average.

Re: Draft Grade formula

i not a big no#s guy but most experts giving us a B grade on the draft, still it does'nt really satisfy me because i was big on getting the LB in this years draft. it has to be the dolts that killed the mockingbird. it was coming to us,( j. hughes) before it all went about face and took cb whats your thoughts on no LB in this years draft. and what about harry colman is he the diamond in the rough?

53 Arnoux, Stanley LB 6-0 232 23 2 Wake Forest
52 Casillas, Jonathan LB 6-1 227 22 2 Wisconsin
56 Dunbar, Jo-Lonn LB 6-0 226 25 3 Boston College
54 Evans, Troy LB 6-3 238 32 9 Cincinnati
50 Mitchell, Marvin LB 6-3 249 25 4 Tennessee
58 Shanle, Scott LB 6-2 245 30 8 Nebraska
51 Vilma, Jonathan LB 6-1 230 28 7 Miami (Fla.)
59 Waters, Anthony LB 6-3 238 25 4 Clemson

8 guys to fill 3 spots plus any of the UDFAs or other FAs we decide to bring in

underlined are my projected starters.....with 8 LBs already on the roster is there really a major need for LBs?

bigger need is DT IMO

92 Ayodele, Remi DT 6-2 318 27 4 Oklahoma
98 Ellis, Sedrick DT 6-1 307 24 3 Southern California
69 Hargrove, Anthony DT 6-3 272 26 6 Georgia Tech
66 Heyman, Earl DT 6-1 289 22 1 Louisville
95 Leisle, Rodney DT 6-3 315 29 4 UCLA
90 Pressley, DeMario DT 6-3 301 24 3 North Carolina State
94 Woods, Al DT 6-4 314 22 R Louisiana State

7 guys there with 1 guy projected as a starter......no clancy who was our starting NT last season.....so who's our starter at NT?

hargrove will likely be a DE this season that means we have 6 guys to fill 2 spots and none of them are likely starters except ellis

Re: Draft Grade formula

i see your point, could al woods be converted to nose, 300lbs plus a reach that could fill another hole by itself. when we gave up those terrible long runs last year would u agree it came in between the dt,and the de or the de and olb i think i'm putting it right, correct me if wrong

Re: Draft Grade formula

"or other FAs we decide to bring in"

Exactly. As you previously stated...you don't have a big board or better yet (my words not yours) whom the FO has targeted at DT, LB, or FS!

From your recent posts, it seems you believe Loomis and Payton, based on their draft and selection of UDFA, should give the Lombardi Trophy away right now!

IMHO, I give Loomis and Payton the benefit of the doubt and will do so to until us fans reach that pinnacle as coach and GM.
