Darren Sharper leaves Jacksonville without contract offer
1 Attachment(s)
Sharper, whose nine interceptions helped give the Saints one of the NFL's most feared secondaries in 2009, had made it clear he would prefer to return to the black-and-gold. Management publicly takes the same stance, but its actions have made it clear the Saints want the market to set the price for Sharper who, at age 34, is probably looking at one last multi-year deal at the end of his career.
New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper, an unrestricted free agent, has left his official visit with the Jacksonville Jaguars without a firm contract offer, according to various sources and reports, although the sides remain in contact and no final decision has been reached. Now if we can get past Dallas. I know, I know...Dallas said they weren't interested. That, I think, is an unsubstantiated rumor. I'll believe it when I see it.

Re: Darren Sharper leaves Jacksonville without contract offer
Despite his great season last year, the dude is considered injured and he is considered old. The smart thing for Sharper is to find a way to hammer out a deal with the Saints, play another season or two, then go to the broadcasting booth.

Re: Darren Sharper leaves Jacksonville without contract offer
Here's my question. Where were all these people last year when no one would take Sharper? He goes to New Orleans and wins a Super Bowl and now all of these teams are flocking to bring him aboard. Do they think he will revive their franchise like they think he did ours? He was just the missing piece. We had Drew Brees and Coach Payton to thank for reviving the franchise. A team like Jacksonville, they need more than just a safety to consider themselves a playoff team.
