Not only did Sharper provide big plays for the Saints, but he also used his 13 years of experience to serve as a leader for several of his young teammates.
Throughout his career, Sharper has been well known for his ball-hawking skills and ability to create turnovers, which helped influenced a Saints defense that finished with 39 takeaways last season. Along the way, he also became a fan favorite in New Orleans. The only downside for Sharper is his age. The 34-year-old, who is set to turn 35 during the 2010 season, has proven he can still make big plays, but after...(read the full article here) Last edited by Saintswrath; 06-02-2010 at 11:50 AM.. |

Re: The Saints need Sharper
I'm really tired of the only excuse people can come up with is his age. He had his best year statistically at 34! I have heard about his off season training rituals, and that he keeps himself in great shape. He's got at least 3 years left in the tank, if not more. Injuries slowed down his play last season, nothing else. And before anyone says anything about age attributing to injuries, just remember, we had some guys way younger than him injured as well. In fact, in my recollection, he hasn't had a "major" injury during his entire career.

Re: The Saints need Sharper
I'd like for him to return but if he left, I don't think he'd be that big of a loss. While he was instrumental for our quick start, his production tailed off towards the end of the season and going into the playoffs. If he left to one of our rivals, I think with all the knowledge we have on him, we'll be able to exploit his weaknesses giving us a slight edge. I do understand that works both ways, but I have confidence our high octane offense should have no problem adjusting to him then teams have to do for us. The only concern I have is whether or not Young and Jenkins are ready for increased playing time... but I guess you wouldn't know unless you plug them in there.

Do you ever get the feeling, that for some reason, no one wants to acknowledge this fact on here? You and I both have said this what, a million times? And no one ever acknowledges it. It's like, we're in the twilight zone or something.....
