Deke Bellavia Reporting
In sports many feel like the "best team" always comes out on top. Way down yonder, here in New Orleans, the Saints are proof that it does not matter how you get here just as long as you get here. From day one, Saints coach Sean Payton has implemented a policy of keeping the best players that give him a chance to win. His approach has become a model for other teams in the National Football League. http://www.wwl.com/Deke--New-Orleans...or-dar/6993511 Last edited by Saintswrath; 06-02-2010 at 11:50 AM.. |

Agreed on all points except Coleman ... not sure if he can crack the backups.

This whole article excites me. Lower picks and the ability to find talent in hidden places has made the difference for us. You must have depth, and you must get production from every man on the roster in today's NFL. |

I agree that the Saints staff is the best in the business at finding good talent in unusual places. We also give some older veteran players a chance here to thrive in a good system where they may have struggled elsewhere. Our scouting department kicks a**. Finding and making the most out of the talent we have is certainly a factor in last years success.

Deke is sharp, so sharp he could be writing a column for the local paper! Basically, he's said what countless journalists have written and not to mention, us as fans, have called in to his radio show and said for YEARS! ....even using the term, "team for Dark Horses". Heck, even Rich Eisen has throw that term around regarding the Saints over the last few years.
