this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Sean Payton brought in the coaches and asst. coaches that gave New Orleans it's first Superbowl. We obviously have very good coaches. Who is the position coach that gets the most out of his players? Also, who do you think ...

Which position coach gets the most out of his players?

For me the most effective coach is the wide receivers coach-Curtis Johnson. I don't know the special teams coach's name, but his special teams aren't special at all. jmo.............btw is anybody surprised that our coaching staff wasn't raided after winning a Superbowl? |

Curtis Johnson, best.... hands down. G. Williams, collectively for the D, especially with his work through Vilma might be in the mix, but Johnson has been around far to long to compare Williams' with his debut year.
regarding our coaches not getting raided, I'm actually not surprised, I guess do to contract commitment and loyalty, Greg Williams wouldn't be a candidate for hire I don't believe. Who does that leave in demand? Also, we don't really know that coaches weren't courted but denied behind the scenes.... I guess not all things are made public. |

Would have to agree .... our WR's aren't as heralded, yet keep on producing and improving. The QB coach ain't too shabby either.

OL coach. We've done a wonderful job keeping Brees on his feet... which is the most important thing for our franchise.

Re: Which position coach gets the most out of his players?
Any of the coaches on our championship staff would be a great choice, My choice is Curtis Johnson, Although we have the best QB in the league under center i feel that CJ has done an outstanding job coaching up the Wides getting them ready and in condition to get out there and preform, yes the athletes have talent but coaching goes along way, what other team do you know who has a Lance Moore UDFA a nobody come in and could have had a 1000 yard season had he not broken off that route that it would have given Drew the Single season passing record, A 7th rounder in Marques Colston hes a stud anyway and get the most out of him? Remember the random WR's we had in 06? Terrance Copper,Jamaal Jones, (Chris Horn, Mike Haas Horn was active for a few games did not contribute Haas got cut) Those non household names came up at big moments and made plays, And I'd like to send the credit to CJ.

Indeed. I go with the O-line coach, too. The Saints have built up one of the Top 5 offensive lines in the league to protect the best QB in football. There may be some slips here and there, but to have 2 Pro Bowlers and 2 Pro Bowl reserves, that says a lot about their abilities and the man coaching them.
