It's more common than you think, especially with players who twist and turn a lot. In fact, it's practically an epidemic in hockey. In years past the injury was viewed as a groin "strain" or "pull" that simply needed rest. Doctors today find that sports hernia surgery leads to a faster and fuller recovery. So would you prefer players rest a groin that could be re-injured - say during a Superbowl run - or have surgery and fully recover in 3-4 weeks with little chance of re-injuring the site??? Calm down conspiracy theorists... |
