Thus far the Saints have lost to 2 unbeaten division leading teams and one team in second place having lost themselves only once to their division leader (the Colts) who is one of the teams who have beat the Saints. Translation.....Saints have lost to teams with a combined won/loss record thus far of 10-1. Our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter of scheduled opponents do not have such an impressive combined winning percentage and won't when we play them later this year. OK....the home team has stunk so far with poor: execution, play calling, coaching, performance, confidence, concentration, attitude, and enthusiasm. If these were the only problems the team had, I would be even more optimistic that we could right our ship. However, it is hard to overlook the excessive amount of injuries suffered already in this young season. None the less, it is still possible that the team can pull itself together and go get an upset in Carolina this week and then get on a small roll by putting a 3 game winning streak together by getting wins the following weeks against Chicago and Atlanta. A 4-3 mark coming home to take on the Panthers and a chance to go 5-3 and get back into the division race is not unrealistic to think possible. Last year the Raiders and Titans opened their seasons with the same w/l marks as we have yet both made the playoffs and one to the super bowl.
