Actually, that's a bad example. Minnesota won the toss in overtime that year, and had, not one, but two possessions in OT. Atlanta kicked the game winning FG on their second possession in OT, ending the game. The result would have been the same, even if the new OT rules were in place at that time.

If the team that wins the toss fails to score on their opening drive, and the opposing teams scores on the subsequent drive, either by a field goal or by a touchdown, that team wins the game.

I like the college rule for the college game. But, they should have left the NFL rule alone. If they want to change a stupid rule, how about allowing everyone on the 53 man roster to play every week?

the NFL and ESPN wanted Favre vs Payton... bottom line.

if the Viqueens kicker had won the game, IMHO, this would not be an issue.

Why did they want Favre?????

SO HE WOULD FINALLY RETIRE!
