Shockey Update (Updated 5.28.10)
Jeremy Shockey was diagnosed with a seizure, according to teammate Darren Sharper.
Sharper visited Shockey in the hospital after the tight end collapsed in the weight room earlier Thursday. Shockey is going to stay at least one night in the hospital to undergo tests, but he doesn't seem too concerned. "I am ok, thanks to everyone who has shown their concern don't worry about me I will be fine.. WHO DAT," tweeted Shockey. I like shockey |

Re: Shockey Update
Let's hope that it wasn't a seizure. Seizures are not stand alone events. They are cause by some problematic condition. The following are from Dr. Mark Adickes' twitter account (DrMarkAdickes):
Causes of seizures include: Arterial disease in the brain, alcohol and drug withdrawal, bleeding in the brain, and epilepsy. Other diseases in which seizures can be common are brain cancer, encephalitis, meningitis and kidney failure. As you can see when seizures occur all causes are serious. I hope Jeremy Shockey did not actually have a seizure. It is possible that an electrolyte imbalance and subsequent cramps appeared to be a seizure and ambulance is overkill...we'll see. Eyewitness account leaves the door open that perhaps this was not a seizure. That is a good thing as all seizure causes are problematic. |
