Being an "Employee at will" versus a player in the NFL? I'm no lawyer, but I'm not sure how well those two relate.

At any rate, would a boss give you a bigger raise if you threatened not to come in or if you busted your butt? A story on that: About 7 years ago my boss railed on me in front of my coworkers for something I did not do. I'd been busting my butt for 3 years doing my job and a good portion of some other people's jobs too. I sat in my chair, and I took it, and when he left I got up, got some coffee, went outside and walked around the building...twice...then went back into his office and said, "I want a public apology AND I want a raise or I'm leaving...today." I got my apology and I got my raise.

its a sport and a business

both require you to be there and earn your spot and money

so pick...i dont care which one you want to argue.....sport or business

either way you show up and do your job and do it to the best of your ability

in a sport you show up or you dont play.....in a job you show up or you dont get paid.....so which one is it?

It seems to me a contract in the neighborhood of 4 years @ $18 million would be about right here. They could negotiate guaranteed dollars vs incentives, and come to something mutually acceptable.

PT has proven himself to be a valuable player in the Saints' offensive scheme, and he looks like a better inside runner than Reggie Bush; but PT absolutely can not scare the daylights out of defenses, and cause other offensive players to be wide open to make big plays, like Reggie can.

PT is replaceable; for what the Saints do on offense, Reggie Bush is not. So he is not going to sniff Reggie-type $$$$, either with the Saints or with any other team.

I like PT. But he hasnt even had a 1000 yard season! He's a big part of our offense but he can be replaced.

Restricted free agent Pierre Thomas is reportedly seeking a contract in the neighborhood of Steven Jackson's six-year, $44.8 million deal.
Rumors got to start somewhere.

And if he holds out he won't get paid. The point is holding out is the leverage players use to renegotiate, and I can assure you if the other side would renegotiate without a holdout we'd see far fewer. Holding out is an option these guys have that most of us don't have, but we use other tactics too - at least some people do. Same same.
