Pierre Thomas holdout
Restricted free agent Pierre Thomas is reportedly seeking a contract in the neighborhood of Steven Jackson's six-year, $44.8 million deal.
That would explain the hold up on an extension. Thomas is one of our favorite players, but he hasn't proven able to shoulder a full load over 16 games -- much less serve as the offensive focal point. Per ESPN's Len Pasquarelli, negotiations between Thomas and the Saints have now broken down. If he doesn't want to play on a one-year deal, he'd better lower his expectations. --come on man... |

What did Ditka say about why the Bears didn't win the SB in '86...something like, "The first year being a team is why we won. The second year, everyone thought they were the reason we won."

I didn't hear that. I hope that doesn't happen to us!! |
Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
why aim low? you just hit the ground.

Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
Ditka babbles a lot. He might have been farting and they misunderstood him.
My grandmother could have coached Walter Payton to a Super Bowl. Hand Walter the ball. Nice coaching. |
Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
I am surprised at PT. I personally think he's being mismanaged in a major way here...

Re: Pierre Thomas holdout

Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
he plays with real heart
|
Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
He's better than Reggie Bush, and he should be paid accordingly.
If they swapped contracts, all would be OK. PT should be making Bush money and Bush should be making PT money. I say make PT happy, and if it costs us Bush, that's fine with me. |

I dont' know.....I mean yeah thus far in his career bush hasn't lived up to his contract...but we all know he has it in him...he just has to find it and if he ever does then we could be saying Chris Johnson eat your heart out!! Question is will he ever find it? |

PT is much closer to a franchise RB than Bush is, and should be paid accordingly, which is approximately what Bush makes now. |
Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
I don't blame Thomas for asking. He absolutely has the ability. He runs downhill and is great out of the backfield. My only question is his durability. First of all, the Saints are not a run first offense. He's only getting 12 to 18 touches a game, which isn't going to change with Bush on the roster, and he still hasn't been able to stay healthy. In my opinion, the offense wouldn't drop off that much if Hamilton was the back getting 12 to 18 touches and working Bush in. It's just the way the offense is set up. So, if he wants "bell cow" type money, I think he's going to have to get it elsewhere.

Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
hes not that 25 carry back, hes tough and i want pt here. but 44.8 mil. seems like agent looking for his big payday.
|
Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
Wow, what would you do if your the "General Manger". lol
Tough, i rather see Pt get bush's money. |
Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
somewhere around 30 mil. with 10 up front.

Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
Real world: Bush got a second pick overall, superstar contract. Yes, it was a mistake. Accept it and move on. He is NOT the measuring stick for all future contracts.
PT, or 'FF', (or whatever we are calling him) needs to get with his agent and look at what RB's with similar production and touches are making Give him a big one year deal, and then next year you are re-negotiating with Bush anyway, so now you decide who gets what. More real world: PT had 793 yards last year, 625 the year before. That's not a 6 million dollar back |
Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
Hopefully this is just a little posturing by his agent during a slow time of the year. I can't see any team giving him that kind of money.

Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
Look this salary crap is getting outrageous. Yeah they can get hurt but a million a year should make up for that right? I mean if I made a million dollars 4 years in a row I could retire comfortably and never smell bankruptcy court where some of these guys end up. Look I love Pierre but enough is enough. He's not the centerpiece of the offense so enough said. Let's pick someone up as insurance; Jamaal Lewis, Justin Fargas or Brian Westbrook and then draft someone in the first round next year. We don't need to break the bank on this guy and as I've said before he really hasn't proven he can do it long haul and he will never get 25 carries a game.

Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
While I can't blame him for wanting that kind of money, it is crazy and won't happen
|
Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
any player that wants to be part of a team but doesnt show up to work for that team doesnt deserve to play on that team
|
Re: Pierre Thomas holdout
Players want to get paid, can't blame them; but seriously if he honestly thinks hes gonna get that kind of salary from ANY team, he is crazy.

Well, once you make the NFL - especially as a RB - you have a small window inside which you have to make the best deal(s) you can - and they'll cut you in a heartbeat, so you might as well squeeze the orange for all the juice you can get while you have the chance. I hate to see PT sitting out, but I think he has a valid argument with the organization, which is not to say he needs to be paid like the highest paid RB in the league, but I bet he'd settle for less. |

It is my opinion that when you are playing for a team that is part of a business, then people must let business play a part in their decisions. In other words, if he was part of a weekly bowling league and decided to not show-up because he'd have to miss the new episode of "Family Guy"...then, yeah...he sits. |
