The reason why the saints wouldn't sign him to a long term deal, is BECAUSE of the health concerns. It's better to play it safe, and not lock him up in a huge contract, than to bet the farm on him, and he misses another season.
how forgetful we are after a super bowl victory?

brown was one of the best players on our team over that past several seasons

we won the super bowl without him so now hes a cancer and a locker room hazard? now hes expendable and now hes useless? he wanted a long term contract to stay in new orleans and the fans showed him support like this?

no wonder he wanted out

So, as for me, I don't think he's a cancer, a locker room hazard or even useless...

...BUT...

The man hasn't played for us in a year, we managed quite nicely without him, we have his heir apparent (hopefully) on the roster, an extremely intelligent QB to compensate for 'average' play at the position, and frankly with the labor situation as it is, Brown might have signed his 3.5 friggin tender and been happy.

So, he's traded, still not signed long-term, only NOW he doesn't have to fight for his position which he might likely have had to do in New Orleans. He didn't like the situation here (for his own personal reasons), so that's on him. Loomis had to get what he could when he could. Brown doesn't seem to be a bad guy - and I guess I'm not certain what he was offered - but this appears to be the best for both him and the team.

C'mon Man...

Yeah Canton. He's SOOO GOOD, that even when we were dangling him in front of all the other teams in the NFL, NO ONE wanted him. If he is as great as you keep saying he is, and there is absolutely no doubt about his health, then why, pray tell, did everyone pass on the prospect? All we got was a third, or possibly a fourth... What does that say about what the rest of the league thinks of him? Obviously, the Saints aren't the only team, that doesn't want to gamble a first or second pick on him, or a long term contract. I read on the Redskins forum, that even their fans, don't want to sign him to a long term deal, until he shows he still has it, in this one year deal. You are really up on this guy, and that's fine, but obviously, I'm not the only one out there, that thinks he's going to have to prove himself, all over again. In fact, all 32 teams think so.

considerin the fact that there were teams garnering interest.....including a new thread on this same forum entitled....."cowboys wanted brown"

of course there are concerns about his health.....he missed an entire year of playin time....but there arent concerns about his talent

and consider also that since there is no salary cap that an All-Pro left tackle will cost a lot of money and not many teams have that kind of money to spend

im really up on this guy because he protected our most valuable asset over the past few seasons and everyone is just throwin him under the bus for wanting more money.....WHICH HE DESERVED

after watching bushrod get drew pummeled last season im surprised that nobody is upset about losing our best offensive lineman. ive pretty much chalked it up to ignorance but who am i to judge?

winning a championship makes people a little cocky and we are forgetting the past 43 years......you dont start tearing down a team after a championship....you continue to build on the foundation that you've established.......this is not what we have done this offseason
