New Orleans Saints re-sign Lance Moore
As expected, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Lance Moore signed his one-year tender offer Friday, according to general manager Mickey Loomis.
Moore remains interested in negotiating a long-term deal with the Saints, a stance he reiterated Wednesday night at the team's Super Bowl XLIV championship ring ceremony, but unlike some of his teammates seeking a similar arrangement, Moore participated in the team's offseason mini-camp and activities. The Saints offered Moore a 10 percent raise over his 2009 pay, around $1.75 million. Moore joined the Saints in 2005 and has become one of quarterback Drew Brees' favorite targets. Although injuries hampered Moore last season, his catch of a two-point conversion in the Super Bowl will go down as one of the critical plays in team lore. Moore's best season with the team came in 2008 when he led the club with 79 catches for 928 yards and 10 touchdowns. Also that year, Moore set a Saints record (since equaled by Marques Colston) by catching a touchdown pass in five consecutive games. To make room for Moore, the Saints waived rookie running back Christian Ducre, a Lacombe native who was signed as a free agent after he was passed over in the NFL draft following his Mississippi State career. |
