Opening Night
For us old timers this game sort of reminds me of the game against the Falcons circa 1979 (??).. It was the year before that the Falcons beat us twice on Hail Mary's and questionable calls... They finished 9-7 and went to the playoffs.. We finished 7-9 and obviously the two games kept us out of the playoffs and oh by the way our first winning season.... Well as the NFL schedule makers have done here, they opened us with the Falcons.. if memory serves it was Labor Day weekend as we started a week earlier back then (why we dont now Ill never understand... but I digress..lol)...
All summer long we drooled in anticipation.. A DJ named "Scoot in the Morning" on a Rock station kept the fires burning with a promo "I Hate the Falcons"... T-shirts with that monicor sprung up all around town... By Game time the city and the Dome was in a fever pitch.... Everyone was drunk with the Monday being off (not that that matters...lol)... and the stadium was rocking... we opened on fire and went up 14-0... but slowly yet surely the Falcons came back.... tied it up... and in OT we had to punt and our fabulous first rounder Russel Erxslaben fumbled the snap and threw a wounded duck interception to lose in OT.. I see the same happening here.. The Vikes will be at the fever pitch as of course we will be with the banner celebration.... I think they will open quickly.... but we will survive the early onslaught and by the end will win by 10.. Why?? First off Drew was carrying the weight and hopes of an entire city and region last time... Our first NFCG at home... the city and region hanging on his every play.... That pressure is gone now... Drew is in his prime and I see him throwing for 350 and 3 TD's.. The light came on for Reggie in the playoffs... Healthy and motivated I think he will have his first Pro Bowl season and it will start in this game... A punt return TD, a rushing TD and a receiving TD Finally the old man will realize he should have retired... He will get beat up again and this will mark the end of his career... He will retire by week 8 WE are the World Champs... The quest for a Two Dat will begin in style |

Re: Opening Night
Man you really had to be zoned to see through all the camp and pre-season hoop-lah and focus in on a Thursday nite. I hope its a route. I hope the Vike fans are speechless. I hope the same media hyping Brett starts talking retirement even before the 3rd quarter ends. I hope its a Brady/Belichick night. 42-12 would do the trick (1 touchdown with a blocked PA and they eek-out 2 field goals the rest of the game. Then a few Thursdays later, we go to Dallas on Thanksgiving and rehearse winning the big one over there like we did in Miami.
