New Orleans Saints Q&A: wide receiver Montez Billings
Montez Billings is a wide receiver in his rookie season with the Saints. Billings played collegiately at Auburn and is no doubt looking for a fresh start, as he did not play at all in his senior season after being suspended four games for undisclosed academic reasons. The Pelham, Ala., native played in 34 career games for Auburn, catching 55 passes for 645 yards and one touchdown. Billings signed a free-agent deal with the Saints after participating in the team's rookie minicamp in May. He joins a Saints roster filled with experience at wide receiver. He spoke recently with staff writer Rachel Whittaker.

"I'd have to say pasta." What is your best football memory? "In high school when I signed with Auburn would be my best memory." Who is your biggest fan? "My mom is a big fan. She comes to all my games and always cheers for me and checks up on how I'm doing." If you weren't playing football what career would you pursue? "I'd probably still be playing baseball. I've played baseball all my life. I was a pitcher, but I stopped in high school because I wanted to play football." What other position would you like to play? "Quarterback or defensive back." What's your favorite sport other than football? "Pro basketball. I like the Celtics." |
