hahahahaha...one of the funniest posts ive ever seen on a Saints board. Dont forget Billy Joe Everett, throwing off the back foot because the Dome Patrol got into his head, when he played for the Rams.

winner! what the hell was he thinking?

The only non-kicker Saint I ever booed is Dave Wilson. Geez he sucked! I remember the Dome cheering when he got hurt, because his backup was Hebert.

Chip Loehmiller deserves a spot on the hall O' shame. I've never seen a kicker that bad.

You sure you weren't talking about Wade Wilson? That was the booing incident that you mentioned. I actually liked Dave Wilson.

Wow, you guys are bringing up names I was trying
to forget about ! With a list like that, it's no wonder
we sucked for so long. So I'm going to say all of the
above !!!

Re: Who's your worst Saints ever.

Both Fred and Jason were terrible in coverage, but you couldn't hardly beat their tackling. Their abilities in run support were admirable but as we all saw, that was their secondary responsibility. Russell E just rubbed me raw, especially what we paid for him. I think there was even a slash/QB tied to his #1 status. What a waste.

I know, B. There were booing-when-they-were-injured incidents for both Wilsons, believe it or not. I wasnt there for Wade, so you'll have to tell me that story, but yes, I specifically remember Dave Wilson going down with a leg injury when Bum was still there--' 85.

Here's how I remember it: The fans had been wanting Hebert to play for weeks, but D. Wilson was Bums starter at the beginning of the season. The fans were tired of Wilson's very careful, by-the-book approach, which included throwing the ball away, and taking sacks, rather than scrambling around & gunslinging, as Hebert did in the preseason.
When Wilson went down, and wasnt getting up, the crowd began cheering, and I have to admit, I was rather excited to know The Cajun Cannon was coming in.

I remember the first time I saw him interviewed when the USFL folded, and he was looking at the NFL. A reporter asked him where he was interested in going, and he mentioned growing up in Cut Off, and actually WANTING to play for the New Orleans Saints. People, that was crazy talk back then. Very similiar to Bernie Kosar WANTING to play for the Browns.

Do you remember the beginning of the 1986 season, feeling like we'd stepped into a new age?

naaa... I couldnt even drink back then w/o going nuts.

funny, I've never cared much for change. I didnt want Bum to go. I didnt know about this new Mora guy, although Sports Illustrated said some mighty good things about him and some of his Philadelphia Stars players who were coming along with him, namely Sam Mills. Then we had all these new guys with funny names like Swilling.

1986 was the first year of my Saints' fanhood actually. I knew a little about the Saints beforehand but not too much. The main thing I knew was that Bum Phillips was their coach, and I was supposed to hate the guy because my dad did. Which later in life made very little sense to me, because I never liked the same teams or players that my dad did. He was a Cowgirls fan, I liked the Steelers. He liked the Braves, and I liked the Cubs. I know that in 1986 they had this new coach named Jim Mora, so I started following them very closely and became a fan of the coach and the franchise. The Steelers had become an afterthought. I watched a team transform from a team that so many people made fun of to a perennial division contender. I felt my love for the team grow as my hatred for the 49ers grew with it. We never could get over that 49er hump it seemed. I watched The Dome Patrol become the most feared linebacking corps in the NFL at the time. I've stuck by their sides for the last 24 years which doesn't compare to many of the posters in here, but I have suffered my share, too. I consider 1986 as a rebirth and 2009/2010 is the year maturity was reached.

P.S. My most hated Saint was probably Cam Cleeland. A guy who was hyped up to be the savior for the Saints at the TE position, but the number of times on the shelf due to injury were equivalent to Lindsay Lohan's wrap sheet.

SaintPauly 07-13-2010 10:00 PM

Re: Who's your worst Saints ever.

Remember Cam Cleeland's band, with Kyle Turley? (shudders) Can you say "tone deaf"? I gotta go with Heath Shuler. As hyped as he was coming out of college, and the fact that his cleats were made of concrete. Terrible, absolutely terrible.

Dave Wilson was cut in training camp 1990. Wade Wilson played from 1993 to 1994 (Wade was the one that got booed when he got hurt)

Dave was actually the starter out of camp in '85 over Hebert. Im telling you, he also got cheered while injured. (see my above story for details, and how I know)

Jason David. Alex Molden. Gil Fenerty. That reciever that stole Deuce's wallet.

For me #1 it's Molden. He had all the speed in the world but would play way off the receiver.

Joe Horn...he cost us the best LT we ever had...and it was always about him and never about the team.

Yeah...I said it.

There were a lot of bad players long before David & Sullivan came around. I really want to forget about all those guys.

This is almost word for word what I was going to say. Don't forget "Oh No Johnny Po."

Re: Who's your worst Saints ever.

Good Choices...

Walsh when Jimmy Johnson wanted to send us Aikman...real bad

Not his fault, but Erxleben with the No. 11 pick...

Craig Heyward, and this is combined with the stupidity that is Jim Mora; why draft a guy and try to slim him down and make him a speedster when he's a bruiser; this was like Apollo trying to teach Rocky to fight his style, in the end Rocky pounded the schiott out of Clubber Lang; we could have drafted a quarterback a hell of alot better than Hebert and his wounded duck deboys or Fourcade and his Arcade-throwing style and would have won a Superbowl with that terrific defense led by Rickey Jackson and Sam Mills...

But the worse was when Jim "the living headache" Haslett made the mistake of letting LeRoi Glover leave and made a bigger mistake and introduced Jonathan Sullivan as his answer; compounded when we could have kept two No. 1s and selected any TWO (2) of the following Nnamdi Asomugha, Troy Polamalu, Dallas Clark, Kevin Williams, Terrell Suggs, Jeff Faine, Calvin Pace...

Jim Haslett...a true Jackhole
