I'm sure the battery charge he had a little while back played a big part in his release.

All of these players were basically caught in a numbers game. Sam Maxwell... too many LBs on the roster. Harry Coleman... too many LBs and safetys. Marcell Young CB... had no chance since the Saints drafted a CB no. 1. Brandon Sharpe DE... could only play DE and not OLB... so no versatility.

The roster size is, at present, not limited, so these cuts were not made to save positions. These players were DEFINITELY not going to make the ball club.

I do not remember any cuts when Woods and Canfield were signed. So with those two, and now McCray, and Tennant...4 in and 4 out!

The Saints still have Robinson, Brown, and Graham to sign. More cuts coming...not to mention possibly QB (Ramsey?).
