Expect Moore out of Lance
Expect Moore out of Lance
Steve Geller / steve@wwl.com Reporting Saints wide receiver Lance Moore is far from satisfied, despite winning a Super Bowl last year. He was limited by a shoulder injury he suffered lifting weights before training camp last summer and missed time during the season with ankle and hamstring problems. "I'm hungry. Last year was not me. I missed nine weeks, and I can't allow that to happen. I've got to take better care of my body and be ready when they call on me," Moore said. In every practice you see a guy who looks like he wants it more than anybody else. Moore's routes have been flawless, and his hands have been a vacuum. I haven't seen any ball thrown his way hit the ground. Moore says, "I have to go out there and do it every day. That's something I take pride in, and it's gotten me to this point; knowing what to do and catching the ball. Hopefully I'll be able to continue to do that. I just wish camp was over, and the season started. It's been awhile since I've felt this good, but it's a grind, and I'm willing to put in the work to get there" With the brutal schedule of training camp, Moore was asked if he will start to take it easy as the days wear on. "No, you can't reel it back. This is training camp. You have to come out here and compete every single day, every single play. Any moment you pump the brakes somebody is going to get you, and I can't let that happen." Moore is working hard for a long term deal to. He signed his restricted free agent tender for this season and is set to become a free agent at the end of the year. Does that impact the way he approaches the coming season? The 27 year old's response? "I can't think about that. The only thing I can think about is what I have to do on each specific play. If I let that get in my mind, then I'm not doing what I need to be doing, and that's competing on every single play." With the way this offense is run, and the talent that's on the team now, it will be hard for Lance Moore to duplicate his 2008-09 season when he caught 79 passes. One thing we can count on though is his sure hands and tireless worth ethic to be the best he can possibly be. Moore was an undrafted free agent in 2005. The Browns discarded him, and the Saints picked him up initially for their practice squad. |

With Colston's continued knee problems, we might need Moore more than we think. I really hope he does rebound and he is able to be an impact player like he used to be. Moore is a guy I like rooting for. Nice article.

Re: Expect Moore out of Lance
Thanks for the welcome. I am just pretty excited about the upcoming season. With our offense, leadership, coach, and QB, I don't see this thing slowing down. It is nice turning on the TV every week and expecting to win! I will be doing that all-season-long!

Re: Expect Moore out of Lance
I still hold out that Moore runs the best routes and has the best hands on the team. Time and again he collects everything that gets thrown in his direction, except for the last pass of 2008 (for the record...too high). He makes better adjustments than the rest and is on par with all the others in abilities after the catch. I know Brees looks for him and has confidence in his abilities. We need to get our "Wes Welker" signed to a multi-year deal.

Re: Expect Moore out of Lance
Our wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson is amazing. We do very well with our core of receivers.......just plug them as needed.

Re: Expect Moore out of Lance
Always loved Moore. Ive always thought if he was on the panthers instead of Smith, he would have equaled Smiths numbers. He always goes that extra yard, and has some of the best hands in the NFL. For a guy thats 5 ft 9' hes a little beast sporting Montana #. Going to love seeing our #16 scoring against the 49ers for once.
The Patriots almost signed him this year I heard. Can you imagine a Moss,Welker, and Moore line up? But Lance is probably one of the most underrated WR in the NFC. Bad move on BB's part not trying for him. 2008 season ProFootballFocus.com - By Position Colston, Meachem,Henderson,Moore, Arrington, Shockey, Graham, Thomas, Beavers,Roby, and Harper. Any of these guys could fill another teams #2 WR or #1 TE, and half of um could fill any teams #1 WR. No team in the NFL has a better WR and TE core lineup and depth. What an amazing lineup and what an amazing job Loomis and Payton have done. Give us Moore this season Lance! |
Saints proved that pigs could fly in 2009.
Now its time for another miracle SuperBowl and go where no pig has gone before. Last edited by pherein; 08-05-2010 at 02:09 PM.. |

Re: Expect Moore out of Lance
Good to hear my wife's favorite player is killing everything in training camp. He's one of drew's favorite targets and catching everything around him. Lets hope the team can reach a long term deal with him so this offense doesn't miss a beat for years to come
