Don't ever say that Coach Sean Payton doesn't know how to show compassion to his players. Friday morning's practice session began at 8:50 AM and was due to run until 11:00 AM. Thanks to incredibly hot temperatures and a relentless sun, Payton called it a morning at about 10:15.
A good crowd showed up for the morning session with an estimated 1,500 people on hand to watch the Saints practice. The afternoon session will be indoors and closed to the public. But the team had a featured guest watching from the sidelines that drew a good bit of attention. New Hornets' coach Monty Williams appeared at the training facility in Metairie and stood on the sideline with his son to take in all the action. He was a guest of Payton and seemed to really like what he was seeing. "I really appreciate what the Saints have done by letting me just come in and walk around. I was really excited to meet Sean and see what he's done with this team."
