America's Team?
I wish someone with some internet savvy would start an online petition to have the NFL ask sports broadcasters to STOP referring to the dallas cowboys as "America's Team". They haven't been "America's Team" for decades! It's my understanding that they got that name back before the NFL had the wide geographical distribution and fans without a team tended to like the cowboys. Back then, they had class, they had cute cheerleaders and they were one of the few Southern teams. But that was then, this is now. They can call themselves whatever they want but they can do it without the endorsement of the NFL or sports announcers.

Re: America's Team?
I'll sign it. Watching the Dallas game last night I cringed when I heard the announcers call them Americas team..........We are the chosen team that America loves to see do well.

Re: America's Team?
THIS!!
They only got that title because they were winning every year and there weren't that many teams to choose from back in the days. Plus, they had a respectable coach and players. Not like the jackholes they have now. I agree that the title should go to a team that DESERVES it. |

Re: America's Team?
The thing is that I couldn't care less what they call themselves, I just don't think ESPN and NBC and so forth should be calling them that. I'd like to see Goodell go behind the scene and quietly ask them to quit referring to them that way.

Re: America's Team?
Doesn't bother me all that much, although I think as citizens of United States of America I think we can file a law suite against the Cowboys for using the word America in that so called tittle. Its a trade mark of the US for starters and they have to back it up and prove they are actually Amercia's team.
The problem is that they would probably win because they seem to have fans all over the states where ever I have traveled and in many countries. So they would have a leg to stand on. If we do win on the merit that we own the name America say 20 million we'd then have send them bailout approved by our government of 20 billion. |

Re: America's Team?
Gotta love it. Only one pre-season game in the books, and the trash-talking has already started. I got into some huge debates with people I know over my Facebook status last night and a reply I made to one of my acquaintances status messages. Just a little taste of what was said:
Dallas Fan's status: Fooball season officially begins..... Lert's go Cowboys!!!!!! My reply: The team with the most arrests from the 90's against the team with the most arrests of last decade. The A.T.F. will be doing security at this game. His reply: Winning one Super Bowl doesn't mean your team is no longer the Aints, just means they got lucky one season. My reply: Don't be bitter since the Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl since you were in high school and have only won one playoff game since then. No matter how big of a douche bag (I was possessed by the spirt of Chopique at this point) you want to be about it, your Cowboys are not the defending Super Bowl Champions. No, sir. That honor goes to the Saints and the entire Who Dat Nation. His reply: So how many Super Bowls do the Aints have under their belts again???? My reply: Same old argument from every single Cowgirls fan, because that's the only argument y'all have. In between our messages, his wife (who is from Peru and also a Cowgirls fan) kept trying to get us to stop. Yeah, we didn't listen too well. Then other Saints fans started chiming in. Fun was had by all. I got a lot of feedback on my status message (mostly from Saints fans): "They just showed a clip of Tony Homo telling a crowd in San Antonio that they would see them in the Super Bowl in Dallas. He better hurry up and buy his tickets before they sell out." Only one Cowgirl fan talked trash in return, but it was weak. To make a long story short, if people are already talking this much trash after one preseason game, think of what it is going to be like whenever the regular season starts. We are going to be ready to kill. hahaha |

Re: America's Team?
Plus the cowboys looked absolute trash in that game, least when we are in preseason our 2nd and 3rd stringers still manage to put up 20+ points. We are always going to get haters coming our way, atleast this group and the entire who dat nation have the winning arguement, we are the defending champs!
