Madden Gras 2011 was a date to be remembered and you can catch up on all that went on in my first article.
Madden Gras 2011 Recap
I was lucky though and got to speak to just about all the football greats on hand that day.
Mike McKenzie
Fred McAfee
Chuck Muncie
Marcus Allen
Joe Horn
Marshall Faulk
Deuce McAllister
It was such an honor just to be in the same room as all of those guys and be able to take pictures with them, play Madden with them, and get a chance to talk to them. Throughout the day, my day included speaking with McKenzie, Horn, Muncie, McAllister, and Hall of Famer Allen.
Below you'll find my conversations with them at the event celebrating the release of a Drew Brees' decorated video game.
Mike McKenzie
~ Do you play Madden? Do you actually sit down and play Madden with the guys?
"No! (laughs)"
~ Not at all?
"Because I'm not very good. But they have a new feature, this play flow which is for someone like myself. You see, I'm a real player...I'm a real player in the NFL. So I do it kind of different. I'm not looking at all the strategy, the coaches come up with strategy.
I'm just a player having a great time. So when I play a game like this, most of the guys are taking pride in being able to whoop me up. So that's what kind of got me on the back burner a bit because guys were talking too much trash after they finish playing me.
So they were putting in three or four hours a day playing this game. While me on the other hand, I'ma real player, I do this for fun. Now it's simple, very easy, and even I can be at least competitive. That's the key now...that I can be competitive. That's the key so when guys call me out, they've made it so easy that even a nominal guy like me who doesn't really have the skills on the VIDEO GAME can be competitive."
~ Well, Joe's running around like a kid playing everybody he can.
"Well see now, Joe's got like ten kids. So you know what I'm saying? So I mean he's constantly playing the game. I think he has age range from five to seventeen so he's getting his video game time in. Me on the other hand? I only have a daughter, she's only six months.
Until she picks up a joystick and tries to work her Madden skills. I think I have time to improve my skills."
~ You came back for the New England game last year, are you fully healthy now?
"Man, it's a beautiful thing. My health is great. I never felt better, especially being here in New Orleans with all the festivities. It's a great time to be in New Orleans, to really be a part of this whole 'Who Dat' movement."
