New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper said he has "no idea" when he'll return to the practice field as he recovers from offseason knee surgery. But he's still optimistic that he'll make it back in time for some preseason games.

For now, the 34-year-old veteran said he doesn't want to entertain the idea of starting the regular season on the physically-unable-to-perform list, which would keep him sidelined through the entire preseason and through at least the first six weeks of the regular season.
