Left cornerback:
Jabari Greer has the starting job locked down and with good reason. Along with Tracy Porter on the other side, Greer is part of one of the better starting cornerback tandems in the NFL. He was sorely missed last year when he was out with injury, as evidenced by his sterling performance against the Vikings in the NFC championship game (eight solo tackles; three passes deflected). He has looked good in camp, breaking up what would have been a touchdown toss to wide receiver Lance Moore in the Black and Gold Scrimmage and keeping up with Pats wideout Randy Moss during two days of practices in Foxboro, Mass. The Saints had put Patrick Robinson, their first-round draft pick out of Florida State, behind Greer on the depth chart, but Robinson's reps have been limited in camp since he tweaked a hamstring. With Robinson less than 100 percent, five-year veteran Leigh Torrence has been picking up the slack. But given Robinson is a rookie and Torrence has been a journeyman, Greer staying healthy will be crucial to the Saints in 2010. LCB Depth Chart No. Player Ht. Wt. Even with all of this depth, they still have to play in the moment and find a way to get it done again and again. I feel way better than in years past when we had a canyon crater back there. Now if we can just find a way to plug up the run defense, its going to be another beautiful season.
